hi there,  I was just doing my exercise and wanted to see when I reached 30 mimutes and I noticed that the active minutes has now changed to zone minutes. I don't like this and would like it togo back to the active minutes?  Plus, I did a really excessive workout yesterday and it's showing 0 zone minutes, even though I am synced....not happy...CAN I SWITCH IT BACK?

Today I got quite some steps in but only 26 zoneminutes 🙄 On the desktop it says I have 90 active minutes.. I end up in the fatburn zone a lot harder now. I wonder if it’s realistic how it goes now..🤔

Same thing happened to me.  They should have made it so you could switch back to active minutes this update is horrible!

Having this problem too.  Fitbit changed their standards, so now I can't quantify my exercise, and will probably give myself a heart attack trying to get 22 active zone minutes.  I went through the help chat, and the worker told me to do a factory reset and then try to get around the firmware update after.  However I did the reset and my Ionic didn't give me an option to go around the update.  So I'm stuck.  This is clearly an update that needs to be rolled back.  If they don't I'll be looking for another tracker as well.

Best Answer
Absolutely, I will most definitely be looking for another once my extended
warranty is up.

I think fitbit will lose a lot of loyal consumers with this crap here. The
active minutes worked fine.

I’m not at all happy with this.  I too will be looking for another device I know my miles and steps are there but I compete in challenges where they track your active minutes very disappointed in this upgrade!  Thanks for letting us know what they advised.

I would also like to go back to the old style and I would like all my active minutes reinstated. They have been completely deleted as far back as I can scroll.

I don't need cheater minutes added on to my workouts, I just want to know the accurate minute count not what you deem to be extra or excessive.

Agreed, absolutely -- this issue is *clearly* not answered or resolved. I absolute detest the new Zone Minutes, and there's no way for me to switch back.  I went for a brisk walk with my dog today, and I got zero credit. I understand it's not like running a marathon, but it's what I can do right now. In order for me to see my old regular Active Minutes from before, I have to open the Zone Minutes, go to Week, scroll down and see what it used to track. Today's walk didn't even show up, though!  For someone trying to get back into physical fitness like me, this is so very discouraging.  I feel like I didn't do anything worth tracking, or at least Fitbit doesn't think so.  The point of a fitness watch is being able to track your exercise, not what they deem good enough to be called exercise.  I've been a loyal Fitbit wearer for years, and I got my whole family into them, but this just stinks.  What's the point of wearing a fitness tracker if it doesn't track your fitness?  Fitbit, I hope you're listening, and you change it back or give us the option of the old Active Minutes, or you'll have a lot of unhappy customers switching over to the many other choices in the fitness watch market.

Love it, well said.  You're ABSOLUTELY correct.  Everyone's fitness level is different and your activity should be based on that. We should have the option to choose which one we want.  It's not a one size fit all.

Best Answer

Absolutely.  I'm currently recovering and rehabilitating from major knee surgery and the exercises I have to undertake won't raise my heart rate sufficiently to take me into zone minutes recording.  However, active minutes are vitally important to me on my road to recovery, so I won't be uploading this update on my Versa 2.

Fitbit, it's time to listen to your customers and understand what they want to do rather than tell them what you want them to do.  It can't be that hard to provide a firmware version that allows your customers to choose what they want to record, can it?

When I did my update today the notification about active zone said there was a way to switch back to active minutes. I can't for the life of me figure out how and when I contacted chat they were useless.

Hi @Mam8 - I looked all over for a reference to this switching feature but
I came up empty.

Hoping someone with better sleuthing skills can help?

Anyone out there?

There is no way to go back to Active Minutes once we have updated. I wonder if @Mam8 was thinking about the ability to look at active minutes prior to the update:

Your active minutes data is below your Active Zone Minutes data in the Fitbit app:

  1. On the Today tab, tap Zone Mins.
  2. At the top, tap Week.
  3. Scroll down to see your active minutes data.

I'm having the exact same issue and I am not participating in any test or confidential test.  I'm not happy and this thing sucks.  I no longer see active minutes.  The "zone minutes" are not tracking at all, despite the fact that I completed a 6 mile, up hill hike today.  It claims my heart rate was below target zone. Clearly this is wrong because when you go into the heartbeat data, my heartbeat was in cardio zone for a good long time.  This truly sucks.

But that only shows previously earned active minutes before the update.  I know I got 95 minutes on Monday this week, but no minutes show up because of the update.

I am so in agreement with you about getting rid of Zone Minutes.  It is demoralizing that I can work out at a moderately high level for 90 minutes plus and end up with zero Zone Minutes, I want to cry every time I check it. It also puts people at risk of pushing too hard and actually harming themselves.  This is the worst thing that Fitbit could have done.

Very unhappy with this new feature fitbit! I worked out today and did the update, all details are gone! Give us back the active minutes

Best Answer

I agree with you all. I do not care for this new update. I just want to know how many active minutes I have. I'm doing what I can right now and just want to see how many minutes I can get in a day. Plus the update wiped out my 50 min walk today!

I would really like to be able to switch it back please.

“Din time” clock face has active minutes.  This has remained throughout the software update. Consider a clock face solution.

I changed the clock face as you suggested, but it didn't help, likely because I was not using that clock face when I installed the update.
