Versa 2 and Strava are duplicating my data

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I’ve been using Strava to track my runs and it auto syncs with my versa 2. Until last week, it’s worked perfectly fine. I ran on Thursday, it tracked it once. I ran 24 hours later and it’s tracking Strava data but the auto detect function on my versa is tracking a duplicate run. This has happened each time since.

How do I avoid this? I don’t want to turn off the auto-detect function as it’s useful for walking but I don’t want it to duplicate run data??

Hi there, @JameeK. Welcome to the Community Forums.

Registering your exercises with your watch and Strava at the same time might result in duplicate information. I recommend tracking your activities using either your Versa 2 or Strava, but not both at the same time.

Note the following types of activities won't sync to Strava:

  • Non-GPS activities
  • Previous activities that weren’t tracked by Strava.
  • Duplicate activities—that is, if you already recorded an activity with Strava, a Fitbit activity that occurs at the same time won't sync.

For more tips, you can check this help article How do I track my workouts with my Fitbit device?

As for turning off SmartTrack, see Which activities does my Fitbit device track automatically?

Hello,

No, I didn't find your response helpful, as it's the opposite of what I've explained is happening. I'm using a Versa 2, which doesn't have GPS. Therefore, to track runs I need to do this from the Strava app, not my Fitbit. My two accounts are connected and Strava is syncing with my Fitbit, which is what should happen. It has worked completely fine, up until a few days ago.

The problem though, lies in that my Fitbit now seems to have started also trying to track these exercises separately. It didn't do this, but now, I'm suddenly getting duplicate information (from Strava and from Fitbit) within my Fitbit app.

There's a complete lack of information online about how to accurately use a Fitbit watch (wearing) and the strava app (phone) properly, as so much of it seems to be pretty conflicting. Where should people be tracking their information and why is it only suddenly recording it twice on Fitbit (it's not a problem on the Strava side and therefore is not a Strava issue)??
