Versa 2 and iphone 12 - won't stay connected

Since I have started with a new iphone 12 - my versa 2 keeps loosing the connection with my phone, so I don't receive notifications of calls texts etc
I have removed the bluetooth connection and the app from my old phone
I have removed the fit bit app from my new phone and reinstalled it 
I have "forget this device" on my phone and repaired with my versa .. this works for a few hours or up to a day .. then i have to do it again
Also have followed all the other instructions regarding the syncing etc
Both devices are running current updates
Any help would be greatly appreciated as it is getting so frustrating - I am ready to start looking into a new tracker
