Versa 2 - barely lasted 2 years and it’s broke

My Versa 2 is only a little over 2 years old. I LOVE this watch.  But now the heart rate monitor is broke.   Totally busted.   I treated this watch with the utmost care.  Always babied it and wore a screen condom.  Still… not even 2.5 yr old and it’s broke.

I really really don’t want to go to apple.  But I’m on the fence.  The Apple Watches will last longer.  But I like the Versa a LOT.  It’s exactly what I want and don’t need in a smartwatch.  But the fact that this junk of a product can’t even last a few years is mind boggling and pathetic.

The more I scan the threads I realize the heart rate monitor is a huge failure for Fitbit.   And since I’m barely outside the warranty, Fitbit only gives me a discount towards another product.   So I’ll be getting a new Versa and maybe pray it lasts 2 years?   Then rinse and repeat. …

literally the reason I wanted a Fitbit was for the heart rate monitor.  And since it broke it’s worthless to me.  I don’t need a $250 step tracker or digital watch on my wrist.  I have a phone.  I’m VERY disappointed with the quality of my first Fitbit.  I love this watch. However it doesn’t hold up and I don’t swim in oceans, shower with my watch, go dirt biking etc.  It’s for every day use and working out in a gym.  So pathetic it didn’t last even 3 years with a heart rate monitor.

You would have to tell more to really convince me "the heart rate monitor is broke".  I've seen plenty of instances where someone is convinced their watch is broken, only to find they've accidentally gotten something turned off in their settings, or some such, even if support didn't catch it.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

See the other threads on this group ... many many people have had this identical problem recently. Many of us also contacted support, and also tried the various settings suggestions by moderators and factory restart incantations suggested by support. The outcome is that the watch is apparently unfixably broken, and you'll need to get a new one. If you contact support and keep them chatting for 30mins or so while you try their various suggestions, they'll probably declare your watch broken, escalate your issue and then contact you by email with 35% voucher on a new fitbit.

Try the various suggestions on these groups by all means, as it may help in your grieving. But since then my Versa 2 also stopped recording other data, such as 5min step totals, during the day. Some have blamed firmware update issues, but either way there was been not one indication anywhere that this issue is going to be fixed, so sadly I suggest that you export your fitbit data and try another brand. My precious and loved Versa 2 watch is off and in a drawer.

It's not the heart rate monitor per se.  It's FIT BIT in general.  They are designed to stop working after the warranty runs out.  I made this mistake 3 times.

Have to convince you? Lol.  It’s broke. It doesn’t turn on or function, how much more clear does one need to be?  Read the other hundreds of posts of similar issues of the heart rate monitor failing.
And no, the heart rate isn’t turned off in settings. I’ve had this thing for a bit, I think I know how to troubleshoot and operate it.  And yes, I’ve turned it off/on and done 10 factory resets.  It’s broke. There are no lights flickering on the back to ensure it’s functioning.  This thing is junk.  Read the other persons reply, same issue as mine.  I will be going to Apple Watch now and won’t look back I’m sad to say.   Fitbit products are not reliable, and for the lack of support and longevity, it’s just not worth the investment.
