Versa 2 battery dies twice a day & screen display is very dim

I purchased my Versa 2 in Mar 2020. Multiple issues have come up I purchased it but I’ve been following the advice in the forums to try and rectify it (e.g. OS updates, turning it on/off with the phone, not using bluetooth, etc.).

Mostly, it’s the battery that barely lasts through the night without any features turned on. I have to charge it morning and before bed too ensures it doesn’t die. And even so, the battery is on 10% when i wake up.

I’ve never gotten the Versa 2 wet, I’ve not dropped or damaged it. It’s in great shape apart from the battery and the screen (2 manor components of the watch)

The screen has changed to this strange hue and dimmed incredibly low. I used to have the screen on dim as I have light sensitivity, however one day the screen dimmed on its own but became highly contrasted so I had to brighten the display (which in turn drained the battery quicker).

I’m way out of warranty, but definitely do not want to buy another FitBit until I get a resolution here. Otherwise you risk a big mouth like me moving to a different brand and telling everyone I know how rubbish I think FitBit are… I’d prefer the former as it’s a win-win.

Hi @isthebutcher  - if the change was sudden it seems like water accumulation damage which can affect battery life and screen behaviour but let's try a few options.

If sleep is enabled on the watch it can dim the watch display and you can't change it. if Always On is enabled it can drain the battery and if you use an Spo2 clock face it will drain it at night, as will a faulty clock face or a temporary watch problem.

To check, long press the button to get to Quick Settings (you can also pull down on the watch face once and then again and click the 2 white bars) and make sure Sleep and Always On are disabled.

Hold the button for 10 seconds till it vibrates and the logo appears and wait for it to start. This will refresh things for the watch.

Change the clock face to another non SpO2 face then see how it goes.

If the display is still behaving badly the watch can have a hardware fault, hopefully not.

Sleep and Always On is disabled. And it didn’t come on suddenly. Initially it happened after the battery died and upon restarting the screen changed and the battery life drained quicker. then after aOS update it went back. And then after it does again it reverted to the dark screen and battery drain. since then it’s gotten worse and worse, where now the screen flickers every now and then.

@isthebutcher - if the battery died (when not expected) it is already a sign of a watch fault, combined with a poor display almost confirms it, unfortunately.

You could try a factory reset just in case but it probably will take a lot of time to set it up again for nothing.

You can  chat via the Fitbit App, click profile photo, Help & support, Contact Customer support for help with that.

If you do decide to replace with another Fitbit keep to the same model available in the shops or if you choose another brand consider Garmin, some have longer battery lives.
