My fitbit versa won't show the step count or heart rate on either the watch or app. The battery has also not been staying charged as long. I've only had the watch for about 4-5 months and the problems started showing up about a month ago.

Let me share with you that the battery of our Versa was designed to last 6 days, but this also depends on how frequently you use all the features of your device. That said, I recommend you charging your Fitbit device with a USB port from a computer or a UL-certified outlet into the wall and then turn off all the features that you don’t use that much.
