Versa 2 battery life not lasting

Fitbit replaced my Versa (1) after it became unresponsive, wouldnt charge etc with a versa 2. 
My goodness what a disappointing "upgrade". 

Ive only had it 1 week!

To start the battery drain is ridiculous,  from 100% at 8am to 0% by 12pm. 
I use none of the apps, like the wallet, music or alexa. I just really use it to monitor my activity/steps. 

I've reset it, checked for updates, left it overnight on charge, un-synced it from my phone, not set it up past the basics to turn it on, not connected it to wifi, tuned off auto display, put it on sleep mode, and it still only lasts around 3-4 hours. 

since it died on friday i just havent bothered charging it again as there is no point. 

Has anyone found a solution for the battery, which is advertised as a 6 day battery life?

The assistance i was offered after waiting over an hour to speak to someone, was to do a battery check. I asked what would then happen to see if it was worth my time, and they refused to answer the question. I explained i have 1 day off a week and i wasnt thrilled about having to spend my day waiting to speak to someone over what i believe is a faulty item.
