Versa 2 black screen after firmware update

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I updated firmware and it killed my Versa 2   Now I have a blank screen but till tracking everything on my phone. Did a restart and changed clock nothing worked. Called support and told same thing then told they would give me 35% discount on new but only works a full price. Seems like Fitbit caused problem  since many forum questions on this issue and wants me to buy a new one  Did they test firmware?

Hello @Jag267

I’d place it back in its charger until it’s fully charged. Since it’s still syncing you can see the battery level if you open the Fitbit app and manually sync. The battery level is displayed in the same area that says “syncing “ during a manual sync. Then try restarting your Versa 2 a couple of times. I’d try at least three times. When you changed your clock face did you put your old original clock face back on that came with the Versa 2? If not I’d definitely try that clock face.

I did what you said above and the display still doesn’t show even though the Fitbit is still keeping track of steps and heart rate in the application. This started happening after firmware update from Fitbit.

Hello again @Jag267

I’m sorry repeated restarts and a change of the clock face didn’t work. You can try a factory reset and set it up again as a new device in the Fitbit App. This may or may not work so no promises here but I think it’s worth a shot at this moment. Please note that when you do a factory reset it wipes out your Versa 2’s back to like original. Your data on the Fitbit App will still be there when you set up your Versa 2 as a new device because it held on the server.  I’m not a huge fan of factory resetting a Fitbit as it doesn’t always work and there’s a possibility that it can render the Fitbit useless but of course it could also work (as I’ve seen in the past) so the option is yours. We have run out of other troubleshooting tips. If you decide to factory reset your Versa 2 please sync your Versa 2 before beginning the process.

Factory reset instructions:

  • Tap and hold the back button of the Versa 2
  • Once the Fitbit logo disappears, release the button.
  • After 1-2 seconds, re-tap and hold the back button.
  • Once you feel a longer vibration, release the button.
  • Now, wait to initiate the factory reset.

Now let’s try to set it up again:

First sign out of the Fitbit App

  • Delete your Fitbit Versa 2 from your mobile’s Bluetooth settings (very important)
  • Now, reboot your phone
  • Connect your Versa 2 with the charger and place it near the router.
  • Now, open Fitbit app and then log in to your account as you normally would
  • Tap profile picture, scroll down and tap Set Up A Device
  • pick Versa 2 from the list
  • Say “Yes” when it asks, “Do You Want To Replace The Previous Device?”.
  • Finally, follow the onscreen instructions.

😃 I really hope this helps and gets you running again. Please let me know how it goes

I will probably be switching to Apple Watch instead of buying new Fitbit product.  Thank you for your  help. Fitbit  should of looked at firmware issue since on the forum I see many complaints
