Versa 2 can't connect to Alexa

Anyone get their versa 2 yet and can't connect to Alexa? I've got a ticket in but it's so frustrating to have a brand new watch and unable to use the biggest reason you decided to upgrade

@Sandy0611 I noticed your answer about Canada came from Amazon. This tells me that the issue is on Amazon's side and not Fitbit's.

Fitbit may not have been aware of this limitation, we know of several other countries wityh the same limitation and users have found ways around the limitation by changing their location setting to a country that allows Alexa. They then have stated they can add Alexa.

If your following the thread you would notice a 12 sentence post about Canada, and Alexa. You will also see that in my last post, I tagged the person I was addressing.

So if you did not receive an email stating that someone mentioned you, you where not the person.

With folks having issues connecting their Amazon account with the Versa 2 and you get a connection error. Uninstall the Fitbit app and also remove Fitbit beta. I was in their beta program and had to uninstall the app and leave the beta program. Once I did that and reinstalled tbe public version I was able to connect Alexa on the watch to my Amazon account

Thanks for your reply @Rich_Laue .  So do you mean that on my Alexa App ... I should change my country from Canada to the US?  I wonder if it will allow me to do that or would it know where I am.   Hmm ... I wonder if then I would see Fitbit as a device to select.  I will try it and get back to you.  Thanks for the suggestion.

Update.... @Rich_Laue   ... I just went into my Alexa App ... settings ... and there is no where to change location.  The only information that was needed to create an account, other than your name, is your email address and telephone number (I gave my mobile number) ... but it really doesn't matter which number I gave.  They can tell where the area code comes from ... and mine is from Toronto, Canada.

So it appears that I'm just 'sh$t out of luck' and will not be able to get Alexa connected to my Versa 2.  I'm not at all happy.  Amazon said they are aware of this problem and are trying to work on it.  I wonder how long they've been aware and how long it will take them to correct it.

That is exactly exactly what a few users have reported doing.

@Sandy0611 Canada is a supported country for Alexa (see help article), I'm not sure who told you otherwise. In fact I personally know someone who is using Alexa on the Versa 2 in Canada without having to change countries.

You do not have to change your country. I removed the Fitbit app and then searched my apps again on my phone and found Fitbit beta. I was able to leave the beta program and then reinstall the most recent public version from Google play and it connected right away in the Fitbit app

@jmrusse  ... do you have an Apple cell phone or an Android?  I have an iPhone and I just have a Fitbit app.  I never heard of Fitbit beta.  And I get my apps from the App Store, not Google Play.  Perhaps what you did is only for Android devices.

@N8teGee @Rich_Laue

Just wanted to give you an FYI ...  I temporarily lost the Alexa Button, but after going into Settings ... Left Button - to set a short cut ... I found that the Alexa button was unclicked ... so I clicked it and now I have the Alexa button back on my Versa 2.   I can ask her questions ...eg weather, setting a timer, restaurants, distance travelled, etc ....  So I can use the Alexa function.  The only thing she can't seem to do for me is 'check my calendar'.  For that she is asking me to connect to the Alexa App ... and that is the only problem I'm encountering.  It's just that the App doesn't have the Versa 2 as a device option to connect to ... not in Canada, anyway.  So ... I just wanted to explain a little more clearly ... that Alexa is functioning on my Versa 2 ... only it can't be connected to the Alexa App.  Amazon said they're working on it ... so hopefully, they will get it done soon.

Cool @Sandy0611 that your back up.

The android play store allows a developer to release a beta version allowing users who dare to test pre final versions. The Fitbit problem is that Fitbit stopped updating the app 2 versions before Alexa came out but haven't removed it from the play store.

@Belt66 are you using the sign in option, or the create a new account option?

It looks like you already have an Alexa account and I would choose the forget password option.

When signing into Alexa, Fitbit sends you to a page on Amazon Alexa.

Do you get sent their?
