Versa 2 cracked screen

I fell and cracked my Versa 2 screen.  I know that it's not under warranty, but I'm wondering if anyone knows how it affects the waterproofing.  The person I chatted with suggested a screen protector.  Interesting in that when I got my watch and asked FitBit about using a screen protector, they said no, definitely not.  Now, I wish I had as it may have saved my screen.  Any thoughts on this?
