Versa 2 dead in less then 2 years after update

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Versa 2 is less than 2 years old. I installed the recent update, then the battery started draining more quickly lasting only a day or so.  The heart rate monitor also stopped working. I contacted customer support who walked me through a reset but it didn't resolve the problem. Then my battery would only last a couple hours and next thing I knew it was dead as a door nail. Fitbit only offered a 35% discount on full retail price which is more than I paid for it and won't let me apply it to the current sale price. So disappointed.

Unfortunately Fitbit aren't doing themselves any favors by treating their clients so badly.

Its been a while now that with every new release it messes up people's watches without any recognition.

Wondering as it is so consistent with each new update if its not intentional to get more sales.

On the other hand they may just be chasing their tail with phone product updates changing the goal posts constantly.

Are you sure its dead? If they asked you to a factory reset and that destroyed the watch altogether, shouldn't they at least replace the watch, as its doubly the manufacturer's fault?

I have a Versa 2 that just stopped working altogether at the end of March.  My daughter has an ACE that quit working around Christmas time.  Both are less than 2 years old. I have reset the versa 2 numerous times only to have the Fitbit logo show up and then the battery died.  I can charge it and alarms will go off but no screen on it and can't sync.  Sad I really liked the Fitbit platform however, am thinking of changing to another product.

@Naomi_T  Are you sure its not working?

If you do a factory reset it needs to be reinstalled [to get rid of the logo] and for it to sync.

Remove all trace of your watch from Bluetooth and the Fitbit App, restart the phone and do "+ Set up a Device" with the watch in the charger.

There can be no watches, tablets or other phones with Bluetooth on when you do this.

Have done all of the above and it is still a black screen although now my phone can find it.  Since I can't see the screen I can't enter the 4 digit code to add the device back to the app.

My case was escalated to warranty so I will see how that goes.

Thanks for the input and help to fix the problem.

I just called Customer Support again and asked that I speak to a supervisor. I explained the situation to the supervisor and that there are numerous complaints in the Fitbit Community about the Versa 2’s battery not lasting long or the screen going black after the update. At first she said they don’t have many issues about this. But then I quoted Fitbit Support on Twitter that said they are in fact aware of the issue and working on a resolution. So she FINALLY offered a replacement! It may be refurbished because she said they don’t sell the Versa 2 anymore and there is no warranty on the replacement either. So we shall see what happens when I receive it in about 2 weeks. If it doesn’t last then I give up on Fitbit and will go with a Samsung Galaxy Smart Watch. I’m looking at the Galaxy 3.

@KayeDee  Well done!!. Impressive. Finally a decent outcome.

Of the millions they sell they should be falling over themselves to replace problematic ones [caused by their faulty software] even outside warranty. A happy community is worth far more than replacing the few watches that get messed up.

Given the current number of problems they should consider extending warranty to 2 years regardless, it would pay huge dividends in confidence and repeat customers and loyalty.

The Versa 2 is still available on their site for $149.95. Hope you get a good one.

I couldn't agree with you more! I said as much to the supervisor that their brand is suffering because of the poor response. And I know the Versa 2 is still available. Which just further erodes the confidence in the brand when you are provided incorrect information. We'll see what happens with the replacement.  If it fails, rest assured I will be on here and Twitter letting everyone know.

I got my Versa 2 in Dec 2019. On Sunday, the light stopped going on to track heartrate and for the past 2 weeks the battery was dying in two days.

It's kind of shady to sell devices that last less than 2 years considering this thing cost over $200.00 at the time.

Update: Was informed I'm outside of the warranty period and to basically screw off.

My versa is dead dead.

I just got off the phone with Fitbit regarding my Versa 2.  I tried everything to bring it back . It is dead after 15 months and all they did was offer 35% discount on another watch.  It died on July 4, 2022.  The watch was working in the am (I synced it) and then later that day I tried to sync again.  I got the black screen and it alternates with the Fitbit logo.  Not happy, as I have been a long time Fitbit supporter and think I will try another brand.
