Versa 2, discontinued?

Hi, does anyone know if the versa 2 is being discontinued?

im abit worried as I got the versa 2 in April 21 and I have started to have issues with it not holding charge like it used to (previously 6/7 days now 2/3 days) and the touchscreen has started occasionally being unresponsive. I h have to restart it every time to get it back working and I just feel it’s getting worse. I have tried to contact Fitbit via the live chat but it just keeps taking me to a error page

has anyone else had these problems?

Hi @Jodie94  - it is possible that they will phase out the Versa 2, as they are recalling the Ionic in some cases, and the Versa 2 is not offered as a replacement. There may be new watches coming later this year, usually around September every 2 years but that is speculation.

However you battery problems would more likely be due to features, issues and configurations.Using all the features all the time would drain the battery.

Although these may not all apply check at least Snore detection and SpO2 and the other battery drainers in How to resolve the Major issues causing short battery life.

Now that we're into September 2022, I think they are discontinuing the Versa 3, rather than the Versa 2.

I realize that makes zero sense, but my Versa 3 died (as a result of a software update) and I'm being offered a discount to purchase a new one.

But, the Versa 3 is no longer listed for sale on the website, but I can buy a Versa 2. I'm guessing that there are known issues with the Versa 3, so they are discontinuing it.

Hi @Lmeaglemom  - the Versa 2 isn't discontinued and is also on sale and probably a excellent deal at it's price and works reliably.

Why the removed the Versa 3 from the site is a mystery as the Versa 4 is not yet available and doesn't have all the features of a Versa 3 or a proven track record yet. The Versa 4 is more a Versa 3 Lite.

Hi @SunsetRunner - have you tried logout of the Fitbit App and restarting both watch and phone.

If the watch loses time when not synced for more than a few hours it may be faulty and if outside warranty get a Versa 2.

You can chat via the Fitbit App, click profile photo, Help & support, Contact Customer support, to check for sure.

A Fitbit software update caused my Versa 3 to stop working. Fitbit has offered me a discount code for a new Fitbit.

But, I can't use it on the Versa 4 because it's new.

I can't buy the same device I had because it's not available.

I can only get a device with fewer features - Versa 2, Charge 5 or some of their other trackers. No other smartwatch.

@Lmeaglemom  - you won't get the discount on a Versa 3, as it was on offer and now not shown, but you can probably buy it in the shops for less anyway if you really need that one.

Given the Versa 2 works better, but only doesn't have the on board GPS so the battery lasts longer if you use the phone GPS and maybe more accurately, or Google Assistant.

The Versa 2 has music, a good vibration, accurate heart rate and floors, and doesn't suffer charging problems, so seems to be better than the 3.

When I purchased my Versa 3 in April 2021, I chose the Versa 3 over the 2 because of the GPS and the Google Assistant.

I do a lot of long walks and using an phone app for GPS tracking drains the battery.

I have a Versa 2, but I used to have that problem. I changed the setting to static time, not automatic and then restarted the watch.

Hope that helps!
