Versa 2 displays a "Data not cleared Sync and try again" message

I have had my Versa 2 for a couple of months and still can't get it to do anything. When I tap twice on the screen I get a big red X and it says "Data not cleared Sync and try again."

My phone is a Samsung S8+. I can see Versa 2 in Bluetooth, Available devices. When I tap on Versa 2 it says, "Couldn't pair. Check settings for this device and try again."

Hello I was having the same problem and tried everything then I came across this on another feed hopefully this will help you all out. This worked for me.

There's one more thing we could try to get the Fitbit to work. Please try to follow the steps listed in this help article:

  1. Go into your phone's Bluetooth settings.
  2. Look for your Versa and other Fitbit devices that could be showing in there as paired devices.
  3. Remove them from that list.
  4. Restart your phone.
  5. Run the set up process once again.

I'm having exactly the same issue. I bought mine in January and initially started as a battery draining. Them could use the slide screens so had to reset. The battery continued to drain even with all the trouble shoots litrally only using it as a watch and now I have the red circle of that I cannot do anything with the touch screens not working and wont sync to my phone. I have emailed the support team so 🤞🤞 I will get a response. I'm gutted as my last fitbit was amazing and had no issues this one has not been such a smooth ride....

I've tried everything recommended. I've literally been using this watch 3 day. Really regretting this purchase. Nothing will make the red x data not cleared sync and try again.

I contacted Fitbit direct and they got back to me really quickly and sorted the problem once I had the red cross had a replacement in 2 day. They we very helpful Kate Sent from Samsung Mobile on O2

I had an issue with my Versa 2 not tracking heart rate. I tried toggling the on off feature and it didn't work. I then proceeded to do a factory reset and now the screen reads "Data not cleared Sync and try again" . I tried turning the device in and off I still get the same message, I have deleted it and unpaired the device,  uninstalled the app and even tried connecting it to the computer via USB, nothing has work. What's next? I really love my furniture and have had it since Christmas 2018. My phone is a Galaxy S9. Is there any resolution?

Contact fitbit they sent me a replacement as couldn't do anything with it and had only had it since January Kate Sent from Samsung Mobile on O2

I'd try for 2 weeks with no result!...how do you did it?  I really appreciate if you could tell me hot to fix it..

I returned my Fitbit and my husband's. Too much trouble for the money.

I have found a way to remove the message and re-setup the Fitbit:

1. Remove the Fitbit from your devices on the app

2. Remove the Fitbit from bluetooth connections 

3. Setup Fitbit as new device 

 

Now it should connect and work as normal.

Hi! I have tried removing my Fitbit Versa Lite and setting it up as a new device several times. It will either say "data not cleared..." or it will freeze on the Fitbit logo. Restarting it does not do anything either. I can't get past either screen. Any ideas?

I already tried that several times... and after many. Many tries..at last
I could make it work.

I let the battery drain completely and recharge it. And ..eureka!! It come
back from the dead..

It took me 2 months... I was about to purchase a Garmin watch.. but I
think I will as soon as my versa fails again

I am having the same problem.  Purchased my Versa 2 from Amazon about 2 months ago.  I will be asking for a refund and going to an Applewatch.

My fitbit versa 2 has just done the same and nothing has worked. Very disappointed in this product! Could.you please advise I only purchased this watch at the end of August ! Surely the software should last longer than 2 mths before failing

I felt the same way! Here is what I did! ~~READ ALL FIRST BEFORE DOING~~ First I launch the Fitbit App on my original phone with the original setup. Then I tried to sync the Fitbit watch twice, (4 full seconds apart from each other* and nothing, still had OLD sync time).~~IMPORTANT PART!~~ AND I did all that Fitbit application stuff WHILE I held the power button for 3 minute and 20 seconds, just letting it restart over and over while my original phone with Fitbit app was open near by the watch and NOT charging. So in some period during all this, a notification popped up on my original Fitbit phone AFTER I released the Power Button, telling me to Double Tap to setup Fitbit. I quickly double tapped, and it was all good from there! So look out for the setup alert that flashes at the top during the whole process, and Especially after releasing the Power Button (still having the Fitbit app opened).

I have tried everything in the forum and my Versa 2 and goes fine but the app seems to get stuck at points but when I go to update it goes so far and I get the red x screen

Yep me too, nothing works and none of the advice on here works - my Versa 2 is locked with the red X and Data not cleared etc.... Am I basically going to have to accept that it’s a Dead Duck and I need to ask for a new unit under warranty?

I did a chat with Fitbit and we tried all avenues of tech had to try and
found it had an issue and they are sending me a new one to replace the old
one that was less than a year old.

I am having the exact same problem, I.e. “Data   not cleared Sync and try again.”  I have been a FitBit user for many years and this is the first time I have a problem I can’t resolve myself.  Please have someone reach out to me as well.
