Versa 2 displays a "Data not cleared Sync and try again" message

I have had my Versa 2 for a couple of months and still can't get it to do anything. When I tap twice on the screen I get a big red X and it says "Data not cleared Sync and try again."

My phone is a Samsung S8+. I can see Versa 2 in Bluetooth, Available devices. When I tap on Versa 2 it says, "Couldn't pair. Check settings for this device and try again."

Sorry I’ve got nowhere with Fitbit. I managed a ‘hard reset’ but it’s only lasted about 6 weeks and frozen again.
This time refuses to do anything except tell me data failed to clear.
Advice from Fitbit is to do a factory reset but this is done through the screen and Fitbit completely refuse to engage with this - I suspect the answers on the ‘Help’ are auto generated and standard.

I’m giving up, shame cause this was a gift and my daughter is gutted.

It’s going back to the shop and we’re going to look for a deal on an Apple.
