Versa 2 distance is inaccurate

Hi there,

I purchased a Versa 2 a couple of weeks ago and returned it due to some different issues along with the distance being inaccurate when I compare it to my Runkeeper app or the distance markings on the trail.  I just exchanged it for a different one yesterday and today had the same issue.  My walk showed 9.43 km on the watch and 12 km on Runkeeper.  I also compared a 1 km marking on a trail this morning and my fitbit showed about 45% of this.  I'm at the point where I'm frustrated and thinking of just returning the watch for an Apple watch. I have already contact the company twice about the same issue with my previous one and no solution worked. Any others having the same issue?

Hi there, @SunsetRunner. Thanks for stopping by in the Community Forums. We‘re taking into consideration your comments and sentiments in regards to our products and services.

If you feel that your step count and distance are inaccurate, confirm that the following are set correctly in the Fitbit app:

Fitbit Versa 2 calculates distance by multiplying your walking steps by your walking stride length and multiplying your running steps by your running stride length. We estimate your stride lengths using your height and sex. Track one or more runs using on-board or connected GPS, we evaluate that data to automatically update your running stride length. For best results, run at a comfortable pace for at least 10 minutes.

However, if you prefer to measure your walking and running stride lengths yourself and enter them manually, see How do I measure and adjust my stride length?

Note that when you're tracking an activity with GPS, Fitbit calculates your distance using GPS data rather than steps. If you begin moving before you get a GPS signal, the tracker will calculate distance using steps and stride length as described above until a GPS signal is found.

Hope that helps.

Hi there,
I will definitely try calling, but I find that the other times I called,
the person was reading off a script and couldn't solve the problem.
Thanks for your help,
