Versa 2 doesn't track my sleep

I have had my Versa 2 since November and although it tracks my heartbeat fine all through the night, quite often I only get simplified sleep data. The info says you get simplified data if the Versa can’t get a heart beat record, but the heart beat record is fine, any ideas?

Hi there @Izzziee, welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post and for making sure that your Versa 2 is tracking your heart rate throughout the day. I'll be glad to help you with your sleep stages.

As a first approach, I'd recommend restart your Versa 2 as described here: How do I restart my Fitbit device?. The restart will help to refresh your watch internally and correct discrepancy with your data overall.

On the other hand, I recommend considering the following in order to get sleep stages:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep with my Fitbit device?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

Let me know if you if in the next couple of night you are still not receiving your sleep data.

Thank you for the advice, the night the data didn’t show, the heart rate data was unbroken all night, it was a 100% trace with no gaps.
Last night the sleep data recorded ok again, it happens intermittently but the heart trace is always complete, I will report back if it keeps happening.

Hi there @Izzziee, you're welcome. I'll be around, keep me in the loop if this happens again.
