My wife and I each have a Versa 2. Hers is a couple of months older than mine. Neither of us has ever seen a goal celebration for 10,000 steps. What are we doing wrong?

I am glad to hear you were able to see a goal celebration after you restarted the watch and reached your daily goal. When you reach your goal, your watch should vibrate and show a celebration. I recommend checking if you're not in "Do Not Disturb" mode. For more information, please see here.
You can also test your device’s vibration motor by following the instructions from this help article: Why didn't my Fitbit device alert me?

"Do not disturb" was the culprit. Both my and my wife's Versa 2's are vibrating at 10,000 steps as expected.
