Clearly, my heart is not instantly going from cardio or peak zone to below zones and then shooting back up again. This phenomenon is happening automatically detected outdoor biking and when I have chosen biking as the exercise. I might think that it has something to do with my hand position whilst biking, but it has only started since the recent software update; before that, the heart rate monitor worked perfectly. I have taken the following corrective steps:

1. adjusting the position of the Fitbit on my wrist.

2. tightening and loosening the strap.

3. resetting/restarting the Fitbit (several times).

4. forcing  the Fitbit to track the exercise rather than allowing it to detect automatically.

Clearly, heart rate and calorie burn are inaccurate when the Fitbit thinks I’m sitting on my backside sipping Margaritas instead of busting my butt biking.

Any suggestions or solutions?

I don’t have the answer but mine is doing it also.  I am hoping someone responds.  Here is my elliptical from yesterday, doing the exact same thing.  I’ve only had it for a few weeks and am tempted to return it back to Costco.  I just don’t know if its a software or hardware issue.

I started a Chat with FitBit and they suggest I try it on my other wrist the next time I work out and see if I notice a difference.  I’m not sure exactly how this will help.

I also have issues. When I am sat at my desk working it’s saying I’m at over 120 yet after I’d done an hours workout it was saying I was at 88 which there is no way I was!

I’ve had my Versa 2 for at least a year now, work out nearly every day, and have never had a problem with it until the recent update that switched from active minutes to zone minutes. After that update, it happens all the time.

If the solution is switching my watch from one hand to the other every time I work out, I’m dumping Fitbit and finding another company to provide me with a fitness tracker. That’s ridiculous.

I’ve not seen that, only the weird dropping like a stone during exercise.
