Versa 2 heart rate monitor stopped working

Since the last update 2 weeks ago, the heat rate monitor on my versa 2 is not working. The LED lights on the back are not working. I have completed a full factory reset further to previous mails, but nothing has fixed it.

Hi there, @Tiramisu72. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Versa 2. I understand where your concern is coming from.

In addition to the steps you've tried so far, I'd like you to perform the following steps below for this situation:

  • Switch the Heart Rate settings from On to Off and manually sync your Versa 2. To switch the heart rate settings on your Versa 2, from the main screen of your watch, swipe left until you see "Settings", next swipe up until you see "Heart Rate" and switch it to Off.
  • Once it's done, manually sync your Versa 2. To do so, open the Fitbit app, tap on the Account icon, tap on your watch's image and tap on "Sync Now"
  • Next, switch it from Off to On and manually sync your Versa 2 once again.
  • Once it's done, restart your Versa 2 once again. For instructions, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
  • Next, confirm that your tracker is snug on your wrist (the lights shouldn't be visible) I also recommend when you're not exercising, wear the tracker just above the wrist bone.

Hope that helps.

My Vera 2 has been factory reset a few times now.  Hoping this will fix the issue.

I have been told I am out of warranty..  But everything else works.

Taking steps but no heart rate, like I'm dead.

I gave up trying to get that to work and continued wearing it.

Surprisingly I was at a Theme park and went on Yukon Striker and the heartbeat came back.  Had it all the rest of the day.

Came home and charged it and now it doesn't work again.

Very Strange.

Thanks for this answer Maria.  These steps worked for my 2.5 year old Versa 2.  I was having several other issues in addition to the sensor not working.  My battery life was very poor (less than a day) and my screen was very laggy and sometimes did not respond.  Also, the tracker restarted on its own quite often.  I had tried restarting and the factory reset, but those steps did not work.

It has been only 2 days since I did these steps, but so far all of my issues have been fixed.  I only wish I had found this thread before I did the factory reset, because all of the music files were deleted from my Versa 2.  Due to the recent deprecation of fitbit connect, I can no longer load music files onto my tracker.

Hi Mary,

I followed the instructions and it starts working.

However, my heart rate monitor stops working after a couple of seconds.

This issue is persistent and no matter how many times I do the switch on off and restart, it will fix the issue but only for 2 min.

Hi!

I followed all the steps as posted. I have even done a factory reset, and deleted and re-added my versa2. The lights on the back are still off (happened 2 weeks ago out of nowhere), and I can't figure out how to get it to work again.

Any further suggestions?

About 10 days ago, the heart rate monitor stopped working on my two year old Versa 2. No green lights on the back or anything. So I followed these instructions with no luck. I tried a factory reset with the same results. So I chatted with Fitbit help and they  had me go through the same song and dance with similar results. I was told my Fitbit was not under warranty and I would need to get a new one. Today I still have no green lights, but I do have a heart rate. Its not changing despite what I'm doing, walking, sitting, standing etc, but it's there. Should I sit tight and wait for a firmware update or bite the bullet and get a new device - which may or may not be a Fitbit at this point.

thx

Wow, the same thing happened to me the last week of July!! It has occasionally come back on but doesn’t seem to actually change with activity. Most of the time the lights are off. Seeing that others are having the same issue makes me wonder if it’s an issue with an update or something.

Ya, we're coming up on the 2 yr old mark which is exactly when my last fitbit died on me (this one was a birthday present replacing the last one).

I'm thinking I might try a new device/brand if it's just going to die every 2 years.

This issue started for me the last week of July. I’ve tried all of your suggestions and also a factory reset. The light on the back isn’t working most of the time. Is this a known issue?

I eventually just had to buy a new one.

Help! I've tried this so many times, since my Versa 2 hasn't been working properly since the end of July.

I've even done a Factory reset on it in hope that it'll go back to normal and it hasn't.

Last night no sleep was recorded. Today there hasnt been a Heart rate record on my watch it's just Greyed out. And when I did an exercise there was no active zone minutes recorded. The green light on the back of the watch isn't blinking. It had a Charge yesterday and I updated the app on sunday/Monday eve. But like I said the watch hasn't been working properly since End of July. I feel like I have tried everything possible and nothing is helping or working.

PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME!! before I spend more money buying another one

Just been through all the same procedures all to no avail. No lights, no heart rate etc. My Versa 2 is from December 2019 so looks like it’s lasted longer than others, Very disappointing indeed Fitbit.
