I hear your frustration. I've had my versa 2 for a while too and out of warranty. Just got an email from Fitbit offering me 35% off if I want to purchase a new fitbit within the next 30 days.
It has to do with the last update because everything was working perfectly fine with my versa 2 until last Saturday when I had to update the watch.

Hey @Nygiantstash. We understand where your concern is coming from. We‘re taking into consideration your comments and sentiments with regards to our products and services.
Thanks for your question about why we offered a discount towards a new Fitbit product instead of a replacement of your existing Fitbit product. Our limited warranty provides repair or replacement of products that have a defect while still in the warranty period. Your device is out of the warranty period, and therefore is not eligible for repair or replacement, but we want to offer you a discount to thank you for your loyalty to Fitbit.
Keep in mind that every case is completely different from the other's, thanks for taking the time to share your experiences and feedback. Mine too, broke after update and after 1 year and 2 months, only a one year warranty. Also, same thing happened with an Ionic last year. They used to offer 2 year warranties, but probably stopped because they had to replace so many watches. I've been using Fitbit watches for 6 years and they would replace them if they stopped working, even after a grace period. Very disappointed seeing as I have been a loyal customer for so long. I was even offered an Apple watch by a friend but swore by Fitbit so said no. Wish I had taken the Apple watch...

I had the same problem after the last update, and was given the same offer due to expired warranty. This is my 5th Fitbit product and I've been a loyal customer, even though pretty much every one only lasted on average 1.5 years before the battery wouldn't hold a charge longer than a few hours or in this case the device stopped working properly. It's pretty upsetting knowing that the device just stopped working properly after an update and the only recourse I'm offered is a lousy discount for a device that cost $250 and only lasted a year. So I'm going to try another manufacturers device that will hopefully last more than a year and a half.

My Fitbit Versa 2 also stopped tracking heartrate after the last update. I am no longer receiving heartrate or sleep tracking. I have done a factory reset on my Versa 2 which is frustrating as you lose everything. I have already checked your post about this issue and taken those steps mentioned with no change.

The last firmware update jacked up my heartrate reading as well. I didn’t have any problems until I updated the firmware and now wherever I workout, my heartrate is always 50bpm below what it should be. Then I was given a 35% discount for a versa 3 b/c I followed all of their suggestions and they didn’t work, just for the versa 3 to have the same problems with the heartrate accuracy.
------------------------------------------
My Versa 2 was a 2/3 months past the warranty so I used my 35% to get a versa 3, just for it to have the same problems. Now it’s too late to get my money back.

So sorry to hear that. I'm super disappointed and am still trying to decide on the next brand of smart watch I'll get. Fitbit does not stand behind their products.

I’m having the same issue - heart rate stopped being detected. Based on all the comments in this thread and the fact that this frequently (and, conveniently for Fitbit) happens after the warranty has run out, I’d say this looks like a case of “planned obsolescence.” Shame on you, Fitbit.

Argh. Same situation here. The latest update totally messed up my heart rate monitor.

My versa 2 also lost its ability for HR and sleep reporting. Restart and factory reset done. Nothing helps. Very Frustrating!

Same issue and same response!
It’s the firmware update not the versa! This needs communicated to the programmers.

Same for me... 6 weeks after warranty they offered me a 35% off...reallly ? who would buy another watch after that ?

My thoughts exactly. Why should I spend more money on a watch that'll break down again...especially after warranty period expires.

Heart rate and sleep monitor stopped working on my Versa 2 as well. Fixes don’t work. I expect it to last more than 18 months when I paid almost $200 for it. The word needs to get out that Fitbit doesn’t support their products.

Did you find a good equal replacement yet? I have the same Fitbit issues. Raised Heck when it happened and they kept deleting my posts.

@Niteowlcop I actually just purchased a Samsung watch. I haven't had it very long but so far, so good. I'm sorry to hear you had the same issue and they deleted your posts. That's so frustrating!

In regards to this my versa 2 was replaced last year due to pixles not working on screen so a year after being replaced my heart rate and sleep monitor stopped working was told out of warranty due to being two years my original device was two years old but the device I'm using is only year old and was given a 35% discount which I felt gutted I'm in two mind to get another one as feel as though these are due to break after warranty runs out. I've had fitbit for years but becoming more expensive adore faults seem to be occurring.

Versa 2 heart rate and sleep data quit working last week after 10 months. Tried every tip suggested on forum. Did factory reset and green light comes on for approximately 2 to 5 minutes and then nothing. Disappointed to say the least.

If your watch is under 1 year old, Fitbit may replace it. I'd contact them ASAP.
