Versa 2 heart rate tracking accuracy concern

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Since the last update my heart rate and zone minutes are totally inaccurate. Today I got 5 zone minutes! I power walked for an hour and it gave me 2 zone minutes!  Cleaned the house from top to bottom and got barely any! It’s also said intense exercise when I’m sitting having my morning decaf coffee!! This is unacceptable Fitbit. Ready for putting it in the bin!

Hi @Les12, it's nice to see you again participating here in the Community Forums.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for trying some troubleshooting steps before posting over here. Heart-rate tracking can be affected by several factors including air temperature and device location on your arm. For more information about this, please check our help articles:

However, if your heart-rate tracker seems inaccurate after taking the recommendations into account, please reply with answers to the following questions so I can further investigate:

  1. Were you wearing the Fitbit device particularly tight or loose?
  2. What was the position of the Fitbit device on your wrist?

I'll be waiting for your reply if further assistance is needed.

I am having the same issue. Heart rate reading will go up to around 165-170 during intense workout then immediately jump back down to 120 and start going back up just to have it jump back down again. I reached out to customer service via chat and asked if anything was being done about the update and they responded "our team is looking into the issue." then they sent me an email and informed me that I couldn't get a replacement because my device was no longer under warranty (which I already knew) but gave me a discount code for 35% off a new device. No thanks, Fitbit. You clearly are aware that this is a common issue after the update. Fix it.

Since the latest update I've had similar issues. During an intense workout my heart rate wouldn't go above 75 even though I was out of breath & sweating. Ended up with 1 zone minute! I was wearing it the same way I always do so I know that wasn't the issue. It's only happened since the recent update. After giving it s full reset it's now back to normal. Did a workout yesterday & it was much more accurate but that's without the zone minute update or the most recent one. Think I might avoid updating it when they come through.

Thanks for replying. I was wearing it the same as I’ve worn one for the past 4 years. Zone minutes are not working properly since the last update.

I’m also having this issues and now it’s extended to not tracking my sleep and giving me Incorrect data. For example, my resting heart rate has increased every day since the update and is now 10 beats higher. This morning I received a reading of 72 without even recording that number once ...

I have sent a photo to show the reading and the number given and was told I may not be wearing the watch correctly. Clearly not the case as it is tracking. I’ve also been wearing it for 18 months so don’t need advice on where it should be on my wrist 🤨

It keeps telling me I’ve done an intensive workout whilst I’ve been sitting drinking my morning decaf! And that’s been since the last update.

After update on January 28, my versa 2 exercise heart monitor rarely goes above 100 regardless of workout intensity.  I have used the exercise feature for 2 years so I know how to use it and when it is not right.  It is 40 - 50 bpm low.  Help desk said that is acceptable because of the technology used.  Ready to become an ex customer.  This has become an expensive wrist watch

I agree. I did an hours walk yesterday and it recorded that the heart rate was below zones the entire walk, and has been doing this since the update. Before the update I was either in the fatburn zone or cardio zone on my walks.

I’ve now been told to reset my watch and see if it happens tomorrow 🤨

It’s so frustrating when you know the problem is with the software and they just won’t admit it...instead you have to go through all the basic steps people who have used these watches for years are well aware of and you know it’s none of that

Best Answer

It will work correctly after restarting you watch.   BUT.  You have to do this everyday, preferably minutes before your exercise period

Best Answer

That definitely shows a software problem. We shouldn’t have to do that.

Thank you for posting. I'm having the same issue. My HR isn't going above 100 or so in very intense workouts where it should be at peak. It started when I updated my Versa 2. The responses here from Fitbit are a bit frustrating. The same scripted response for everything.

I think they just copy and paste the same reply every time there’s a problem. They should be acknowledging there’s a fault on their side and getting it sorted.

Since updating my versa 2 my zone minutes are not recording. Today it stopped recording the pulse also. I have sent 3 complaints but no feedback on how to solve the problem. Quite disappointed

Best Answer

It would be nice if they would even acknowledge that their is a fault.

I’m having the same issue with mine, I did an intense workout today and my heart rate usually goes to 170-180 and it was hardly measuring past 120 at most points. Again, it has been since I updated the Fitbit software

Thanks for commenting. The more complaints the better.

Me too!! It’s WILDLY inaccurate. I saw anothe user complain about this 2 weeks ago and it appeared that Fitbit was aware. Every day that I don’t see a software or app update waiting for me I get more and more annoyed with Fitbit. Considering a different brand.
