My Fitbit is not counting my steps. I've been walking around the office and my steps are still the same as when I first stood up.

Need more info...
- Which Fitbit model?
- What version of watch firmware and phone Fitbit app?
- Has it worked before?
- What troubleshooting steps have you tried?

It is the Versa 2. It was working before. I thought maybe the update would help. It didn't. I tried shutting off. That didn't help. Even swinging my arms faster and higher. Didn't help. I'm getting some steps but it is sporadic. I don't understand what's the difference.

Could you please check the Fitbit web dashboard and see if the steps are showing up there? Curious if there is a disconnect between the watch, app, and website where the data is stored.
Have to admit it is bit of a sticky wicket. As it started misbehaving prior to the update, then it is not the update that caused it. All that remains is the watch itself. Personally I am not a fan of doing a “factory reset” as it may cause other problems.
I guess it is possible the motion sensors inside the watch could fail, but it requires further troubleshooting.
You can also give the reboot everything a try.
- Shutdown watch (settings->about->shutdown)
- Reboot phone
- Power on watch (hold side button a few secs)
There are more detailed steps from others, but that is the simple way to try it.

As the steps are not updating on the watch it sounds like an issue with the motion sensors. As you have already tried shutting down the watch and rebooting, nothing to be gained there.
Maybe someone else has some ideas, but short of doing a factory reset I’m out of ideas. So sorry.
