Versa 2 is randomly turning off by itself

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I got my Versa 2 about a month ago and it's been working great until yesterday when it will occasionally just turn off for no reason.  My battery isn't low and I'm not sure what the problem is.  Once I press the side button a couple of times it'll turn back on, but I don't want to have to keep doing that and have it randomly turning off on me.  Does anyone know how to fix this?

@emthebug, welcome to our Fitbit Community! I'm happy to assist you with your Fitbit Versa 2 since it turns off all of a sudden.

Please restart your watch as described in this help article. After this, try changing the clock face to one developed by Fitbit, not a third party clock face and see if the issue gets fixed.

Keep me posted on the outcome.

I have restarted my Versa 2, I have changed the clock face to the original one with a factory reset, and I am still experiencing this issue. This watch is too expensive for this to be happening when it just came out a few months ago. Please advise. I was so happy with it that I just bought one for my son and now mine is having issues.

I tried that and it still keeps shutting off. I was charging it it again and it shut off while charging it it will stay on for about a couple hours and randomly shut off. I made sure to clean the sensors on the back to make sure it wasn't because it was dirty and nothing seems to be helping.

I have had mine less than 2 weeks and it's started doing this.  I have tried resetting and the clock face I have is a fitbit one.  Any help or advice on how to resolve would be appreciated

Its now not even turning on 😞

I have the same problem.  It is very aggravating, my watch is 4 months old and has not been damage.  Tried all the listed fixes.  Change clock face - NO: Powered down and then up again - NO: Did factory reset - NO. Reinstalled iphone App - NO.  None of these worked.  I would suggest a firmware upgrade.

I'm in the same boat as you. Watch randomly turns off. The only way I can get it back on is to do a hard reset...which of course screws up all my settings and causes everything to need to be reset. Not the best communication between watch and app. I wonder if the magnetic function has some effect on this. Watch sticks to anything ferrous (headphones, washing machine, zippers, tools, etc). Could the constant activation of the magnetic sensors be messing with it??

Mine keeps doing this too. When I turn it on it even shows the time of the last sync. I didn't have this issue until after that last update.

My Versa 2 has been having these same issues the last week or 2. It just shuts off! I tried resetting it to factory setting but now it won't even stay on and the fitbit logo keeps flashing at me. Fully charged and not damaged. I don’t get it. I bought it at the beginning of the year. Never had a problem with any other fitbits before.

Yes, everything was up to date. I chatted with someone from Fitbit yesterday and I'm receiving a new one. I was still under warranty.

I just got my Versa 2 today and it also randomly shut off. However, I cannot get it to even show me the logo or show the charging screen. This is the same reason I had to upgrade to the 2 from the original and I am not impressed.

I wonder if this is a fault with the versa 2. Mine is the same i have had 2 within the last 4 months and had my new one about 1 month and it has done the same today. The app then says device not detected:(

Writing this to keep tabs on post, new as of yesterday, I admit I was messing with clock faces for a long time and it would hang up on installing, then this morning it shut off until I restarted it (thankfully it happened after my alarm went off). Uninstalled all the non-fitbit faces (which makes me sad because fitbit faces are severely limited), restarted again just for a refresh. Hopefully this will not happen again.

I have also started having this issue. I've had my versa 2 for several months and today it doesn't respond to touch input and randomly restarts?

restarting and changing watch face hasn't fixed the issue for me

@Frankylights Thank you for joining this thread. Since you mentioned that your wife's Fitbit device is turning off constantly. I totally understand how you feel about this.

Please have your wife to restart her Versa 2 as described in this help article. After this, monitor the Fitbit device and see if the issue gets fixed.

Hope this helps.
