Versa 2 is tracking my heart rate too high

The moment that I start exercising my versa 2 comes up with stupidly high heart rate readings! Eg my pulse might be 90 but the watch will say 160! I’ve tried putting it higher up my arm, tightening the strap, cleaning the light sensors, not moving my arm but still the heart rate reading is miles out. Is the versa 2 really that bad?

Hi there, @RichDro. Thanks for stopping by in the Community Forums. Thanks for trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Versa 2 before reaching out. I understand where your concern is coming from.

In addition to the steps you've done so far, I suggest trying the following:

  • Switch the Heart Rate settings from On to Off and manually sync your watch. To switch the heart rate settings on your Versa 2, from the main screen of your Fitbit device, open the Settings app > Heart Rate > tap to turn the setting OFF.
  • Once it's done, manually sync your Versa 2. To do so, open the Fitbit app, tap on the Account icon, tap on your Versa 2's image and tap on "Sync Now"
  • Next, switch it from Off to On and manually sync your Versa 2 once again.
  • Once it's done, restart your Versa 2.
  • Next, confirm that your tracker is snug on your wrist (the lights shouldn't be visible). We also recommend when you're not exercising, wear the tracker just above the wrist bone.

Also, please see What factors can affect my heart-rate reading on my Fitbit device?

Hope this helps.

Hi, thanks for your help. I’ve done that and encouragingly the heart tracker worked properly in today’s spin class. Maybe the fix worked. Will monitor and report back.

Any luck with this? After updating the watch to v72.1.23 it seem to properly monitor heart rate sometimes - spinning today it seemed about right, but a medium-intensity run on Thursday showed my heart rate at 177, which is ridiculously high (over 100% for my age/fitness level). So it's intermittent. This is a replacement watch too - the first had the same problem.

No it’s still not working. In gym today doing warm up on bike. Pulse at c 90 but Fitbit said 140. After about 5 minutes it ‘woke up’ and started giving normal readings. This happens a lot - starts off with v inaccurate read and then 5-10 mins later it starts to give more accurate readings.

Thanks. After I posted, I went for a casual walk in the neighborhood and it showed 140 bpm for a short section of what was a very continuous pace. I give up!
