Versa 2 is tracking sleep data even when I'm not wearing it

I’ve had my Versa 2 exactly 1 week.. Forgot to put it on last night after a shower and it has now been on my nightstand, unmoved, for 24 hours. It logged precisely 7 hours 11 minutes of sleep, with REM, etc. and sleep and wakeup times approximating my usual times. Would you think this is a farce?

Hi there, @SuLee. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the issue with your Versa 2. I understand where your concern is coming from.

Please note that sometimes the Versa 2 can't detect you have taken it off, and it sees what it thinks is your pulse. Note that if you remove your watch but it keeps moving, for example if you put it in a pocket, backpack, purse, or in your case, on a nigh stand table, the Versa 2 may display an erroneous heart rate reading due to the vibrations and bear in mind that your sleep stages are based on your heart rate readings.

For more information, see How do I track my sleep with my Fitbit device?

Hope this clarifies your inquiry.

This may sound totally bonkers, but did you have it laying face down, face up, or on it's side? Would you mind giving it a try the opposite way and see if it makes any difference? If face down try it face up, if on its side try if on the other side or face down.

That doesn’t sound bonkers. At least you heard what I said, unlike the Fitbit response, which focused on continued movement or vibrations- none of which occurred on my very stationary nightstand. To answer your question, I believe it was laying on its side, which seems to be its go-to when setting it down. I’ll try it face up. Thanks.

You can try both face up and face down.

This is definitely a poser. Phantom sleep and heartbeats are uncommon problems, so I’m making educated guesses. Maybe someone has a different idea of things to check.

I’ll try. And holy cow! How many people have told you you are a doppelgänger for “the Dude”/ aka/ Jeff Bridges?

I'm having the same issue and....

Your answer was no help at all. In fact you didn't answer her question, you avoided it with words put together from a script. Next time READ what a person writes before answering. Also, if you don't know the answer, then find someone who does. If no one knows, then just say that fitbit doesn't have the answer and give her a number for tech support.  😉

I hope this clarifies your response.

Hi SuLee,

Did you ever figure out the solution to this problem? I've only had my fitbit versa 2 for 6 days and the same thing happened to me last night. Ugh...I'll be calling customer service today and asking for a refund. Because it also tracks steps I'm not taking. I think these things are a money grab.

Hi

My Versa 2

Gives me less sleep time than what it really is? For example I went to sleep at 10pm and woke up at 9am and it gave me the reading of 5 hours and 35 minutes????

Hi Jackie. I spent more time and energy trying to get this thing to work than I spent with my family. Constantly loosing bluetooth, app sporadically showing my stats. Watch sometimes showing oxygen, pulse, then not showing it.  Sleep tracker correct some days and wildly wrong others. I’m just returning it.
