Versa 2 - liking songs on spotify app does not sync to spotify account

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Spotify application, removed and readded my Fitbit to the app, restarted my phone and the fitbit and none of these troubleshooting steps I've tried have fixed this sync issue. How do I make sure when i press the like button on my watch, it adds to my liked songs on spotify? I got a versa 2 exclusively to be able to explore music without having my phone in my hand every 3 minutes, the lack of syncing likes is not conducive to my intentions. my phone is a pixel 6a if this information is of any relevance
