Versa 2 not connecting to app

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I am unable to sync my Fitbit today.
I have:
1. forced quit the fitbit app
2. restarted my fitbit
3. restarted my phone
4. turned bluetooth off and back on
5. Unpaired the device from the app
6. Tried to pair and it is unable to find the Versa 2
7. Uninstalled the app and reinstalled
8. Still unable to find the Versa 2
9. Tried having it find it as just a Versa, still unable.

I have no idea what else to do to get the fitbit app to see the Versa 2.
I've had this device for over a year and never had this problem before.

Since the fitbit app no longer recognizes my Versa 2, is there an alternative app that anyone can recommend that will recognize a fitbit smartwatch?

Hi @ChrisInCaribou.Welcome to the community forums.

Thank you for taking the time to share the difficulty that you are having with Versa 2.

I'd recommend trying the following steps in the order listed:

  • Unpair your Fitbit device from your phone's Bluetooth and Fitbit app.
  • Unpair other Bluetooth devices that you may also have paired to your phone's Bluetooth settings.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use. This can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth on your phone.
  • Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
  • Set up your Fitbit device.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Fitbit device.
  • Once your Fitbit device is paired and syncing, please proceed to set up your other Bluetooth devices to your phone again.

Hi @ChrisInCaribou  today Fitbit posted that there is an update to the app for iOS and Android. Might want to see if you can update, too.

@ManuFitbit If you see my original post, you'll see I followed your steps and was unsuccessful.

@Odyssey13 I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it from the Google Play store and it still will not find my Versa 2. I assume the Play store has the most up-to-date version.

I did a factory reset this morning. I plugged the phone into the charger. I got the message on the phone to setup the Versa 2. The app started to try to find the Versa 2 but now the Versa 2 won't come on. It was at 95% charged. I don't understand what's going on.

you'll need to contact customer support by going to this page - click to go there - and filling out the required fields. As you progress, you will go from page to page, adding any required information. Ultimately you will arrive at the place where you can decide to receive or to make a call directly to support. It's the way you'll get things going.

@Odyssey13 thanks for taking the time to answer. I was finally able to get the Versa 2 to pair with the app after the factory reset. I was even able to update the Versa 2 to the latest version 35.72.1.23 but the app still says the Versa is at version 35.6.2.20. I'm unable to sync, so until I do, it won't do anything. Thank you for the link. I will call them. I'm certain this is an app issue, not a me issue. Best regards.

Hi, same with my versa 3. I've stopped the app, stopped bluetooth, restarted my Samsung, reset the versa 3, all the usual fixes basically and nothing has worked. I did notice that the phone not connected icon on the versa 3 is there if I stop Bluetooth and does not appear when Bluetooth is on, so the versa 3 can detect the phone, a mystery indeed that to why it won't sync. I also notice that the time is now out by 12 minutes.

Hi, how did you get your versa 2 to turn back on, I just did a factory reset and on it won't turn back on.

I have similar issues with my Versa 3. It was working perfectly Wednesday morning until I updated the app later in the day. When I restarted my Samsung android device my versa 3 would not sync with the app. (I have tried the suggested fixes on here and the help, but it still doesn't work). This suggests to me that the app is now broken, so please fix it ASAP Fitbit.

I'm in complete agreement, I've tried twice now to get my versa to connect but it won't and it stalls out on the update software if I'm able to catch it. A fix would be dandy for all the forums I see about versas not longer connecting.

@KnitRebel My Versa 2 did not turn back on right away after factory reset either. I swear I had to press and hold the left button for a good minute.

I went to the support page above that @Odyssey13 posted. The third step offers the chance to call support or have them called you. They called me back in less than a minute after posting the ticket. I was told this is happening to a lot of Android users. I would suggest calling just so that they know how badly this issue is. Hopefully, another update to correct this problem is in the works.
