Trying to pair my Fitbit with new phone, the app transferred over just fine. My fitbit won't sync up in the app on new phone and on my phone in Settings/Connections/Bluetooth, it shows Versa 2 as 'available device' but when i click on it says "an app is needed to use this device". I already Uninstaller the app and reinstalled, which did nothing. Suggestions?

Yes @Mburrus your Versa 2 will reject every attempt to pair the tracker through the phones Bluetooth.
Simply load the Fitbit app onto the new phone.
Log into your Fitbit account.
Approve any requests that the fitbit app asks for.
Your tracker should now sync.
You will need to setup notifications.
Now if the tracker was removed from your Fitbit account, you will need to do a setup.

Me too - my versa 1 died, so got sent a new versa 2. Loaded fine on to my phone, worked until the first charge, since then either sporadic or non existent syncing. Have reloaded fitbit app multiple times, restarted the watch, will get it working for 1 hour, then stops all sync. Everything is up to date, but all I seen too see now is "an app is needed to use this device"..... well, I HAVE the app, and still doesn't work. And in case anyone says it's my phone, it does the same on the 2 devices I use!!
Please don't tell me to uninstall, restart anything. I have, multiple times. It just won't sync.....!

@Torsa where are you seeing this app is needed message. On the Versa 2 or the phone, and when do you see this? What do you do that triggers this message.

That is correct @Mburrus a user can not pair their tracker to the phone through the phones Bluetooth. This is the tracker reminding you of what to do.
The user needs to first use the Fitbit app to setup the tracker to their Fitbit account.
After the tracker is setup, the Fitbit app will ask for permission to pair the tracker to the phone.
See my answer above, I marked it as the best answer because it describes how to setup a tracker or how to switch phones, which does not require a setup.
