I have been a Fitbit user since Jan 2013 (started with a One) and for the past 3 years I've had the Versa 2.
Every time I updated the firmware, I had issues. Every time I updated the app, I had issues.
I stuck with it though because it was a lovely device even though I could never get the connected GPS working or the phone notifications or the WiFi! And normally, a week after the update it would settle down again.
This last Firmware update (I held off until 4 weeks ago) has killed my Versa though. Battery lasts less than 24 hours. Hardly ever syncs without jumping through loads of hoops resetting things and re-installing the app etc. 4 weeks down the line there has been no improvement.
This time after almost 9 years with Fitbit, I've called it a day and gone to a competitor. It's a real shame as I've always thought of Fitbit as innovators in this field and the One was a superb little tracker (which still works!)
It's not the 'fruit' company as my wife has one and it spends more time on charge than on her wrist!
It's a week in and the whole process is much smoother. Updates work, syncing works flawlessly, all features of the watch work first time. It would also appear that their tech support people actually listen to customers.
I have a feeling that the battery/syncing issues must be to do with problems with the Bluetooth stack and the app and timeouts as nothing else on the watch should eat too much power. Although sometimes the red light used to flash continually when it shouldn't have been.
I understand that a company needs to move forward with new devices using new Bluetooth protocols (potentially) but there should always be some sort of seamless app backward compatibility. Otherwise you will lose customers. I tried, I really did, but I've had enough.
