Versa 2 not tracking distance

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

So, I just got a versa 2 for Christmas. My GF has one has an Alta HR. Our steps were relatively close to one another. No biggie. But her miles tracked her for nearly 3+ miles. And tracked mine for .1 mile... which I know to be bogus. I know they say don’t rely on other people’s fitbits with yours, but the discrepancy with the distance is beyond. And I’ve walked this path prior, so I know .1 is incorrect.

anyone have similar issues and a way to resolve?

Were you using connected-GPS to your phone's GPS or not?

hi,

My phone was with me, so I assume it was either tracked via the versa 2’s gps? Or the phone? I’m not sure , to be honest.

There are many aspects to this.

Fitbit gets distance totally different ways, depending on if you are connected to phone's GPS or not.

And if GPS is used, you will get a map; if no GPS, no map.

If it was not connected to your phone's GPS, then Fitbit calculates distance as number of steps times stride length.  A default stride length is set, but you can adjust it. See:

Can I change my stride length in my Fitbit account?

The Versa 2 does not have built-in GPS.  It can be connected to use your phone's GPS.  You didn't say how you tracked the walk, if you just used self-recognition so Fitbit recognized the walk, then it does not connect to phone's GPS.

If you use the Exercise App ans select walk (or run), you have the option to connect to phone's GPS or not.

There's more to it than this but I don't want to get too deep in the weeds right now.

You can read all about this here:

How do I track my workouts with my Fitbit device?
