Versa 2 not tracking my steps accurately

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

So I've owned the Versa 2 for a couple days now, and I've noticed this step counter is highly inaccurate.  An example is my Samsung S10 currently has me at 440 steps while the Versa 2 is 2,374.

I'm aware that obviously it isn't going to be an exact counter, it's a rough estimate that may be positive or negative a couple 100 steps  throughout the day, but to be off a couple 1000?  I thought the whole point of the Fitbit was to be an Activity tracker...

And yes, I'm a 100% sure I haven't walked that many steps. Is there a way to make it more accurate? (I've tried stride length but haven't had much success)

Hi there @Rook23, welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the step discrepancy you're having with your Versa 2 and for making sure your stride length is set correctly. I'll be glad to help you.

Fitbit devices have a finely-tuned algorithm for step counting. The algorithm is designed to look for intensity and motion patterns that are most indicative of people walking and running. When working at a desk, cooking, or performing other activities with arm movements, a device on your wrist may add some steps. When you’re doing activities that involve arm movement—such as working or cooking—you often walk a few steps in-between stationary periods as well, so the device tries to give you credit for those steps. For most customers, the number of extra steps added by arm-based movement isn’t significant when compared to your overall stats. For more information, see How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity?

If you feel that your step count and distance are inaccurate, confirm the following are correct in the Fitbit app:

Sometimes, when you start walking, your steps may not update on your device right away. After about 10-15 continuous steps, you'll notice the steps catch up and start updating in real time with each step you take.

Hope this helps, let me know if you need further assistance.

Maria, appreciate this response and seen similar but for me it seems excessive. I have a new Charge 4. I have the wrist settings correct. I just sat down. Waved my arm up and down a few times and got 19 steps...

What can i do to be more accurate?
Can i change my height (at 5’4) to much taller?

it seems a major flaw.
