My Versa 2 won't update and I've tried everything. Restarting it, disconnecting the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and starting again, restarting the watch and even a factory reset. It starts the update then after about 10 minutes it's says update failed, does this both on wifi and Bluetooth. Watch is attached to charger. There is nothing wrong with my wifi connection either.

@JaimieLw , I just got off the phone with Fitbit support. This issue is affecting many Android users. I suggest contacting them so they realize how widespread the issue is. I was told to wait for an update. Go to and complete the steps. The 3rd step gives the option to have them call you or you can call them. https://support.google.com/fitbit/gethelp?hl=en

I'm having a very similar problem. My Versa 2 is essentially bricked after factory resetting. I can connect the device to my phone but it refuses to update. The update fails if I try to update through WIFI or via Bluetooth.
I contacted customer service and attempted to via the issue with their tech support. After all efforts failed I was presented with a 35% off coupon towards the purchase of another Fit Bit device and told to go on my way.
I find this to be absurd. Fit Bit's solution to bricking my device via software/firmware update is to have me buy another device? It's a shame. I'm hoping for some solution to be provided but I'm not holding my breath.

Hi, same with my versa 3. I've stopped the app, stopped bluetooth, restarted my Samsung, reset the versa 3, all the usual fixes basically and nothing has worked. I did notice that the phone not connected icon on the versa 3 is there if I stop Bluetooth and does not appear when Bluetooth is on, so the versa 3 can detect the phone, a mystery indeed that to why it won't sync. I also notice that the time is now out by 12 minutes.

I'm having similar issues with my Versa 3, it stopped syncing with the app on Wednesday after I updated the app to the latest version from the android store. Nothing I have tried resolves it and it still refuses to sync. This suggests to me that the app is broken.

@Wrichardson91 , I also did a factory reset on my Versa 2. It would not connect via WiFi but would update via Bluetooth though it took a long time. When I called support, they said they were away of the issue and implied that a software update is in the works. I was not offered a coupon. It's not a problem with my Versa. It's a problem with the app that is affecting Android users.

@ChrisInCaribou If they’re aware of this issue you’d think the problem would appear on the fitbit status page but nope 😔

@NancyB I noticed that. I'm sure the page will be updated AFTER it's fixed. After all, it's not a problem until it's fixed. At least that seems to be their philosophy. 😔

Did anyone try syncing their device logged on to the web instead of using the App to see if that works? There have been times when that’s the only way I’ve gotten mine to sync. Other times, I’ve had to turn off wifi on my phone to get it to sync w/the App.

@NancyB The web dashboard was removed a few weeks ago. And even that was used only to view your stats and not sync the watch. How does one sync logged on to the web?

How do you sync over the web?

Hi @ChrisInCaribou - since the PC Fitbit app was removed it may no longer be able achieve syncing other than with a mobile app.
However a form of syncing may still exist, if you are logged in to your account on a PC and you have WiFi enabled on the watch (and in range) and you use your PC to fully charge the watch, it may have been possible to set the time and upload stats.
