Versa 2 only records sleep and heart rate sometimes

Since last update.  My tracker only sometimes records my sleep and heart rate.

Try rebooting the watch or shutting it down, then restarting it. Also, make sure that in the watch settings “heart rate” is turned on. It has also been reported in a different thread that given some time it will just start working.

I have tried that. It works sometimes. The heart rate and sleep.

Thanks. Did you try shutting it down then powering it back on? Not resetting it which is just a reboot.

A few more questions…

  1. What kind of phone?
  2. Are you running that latest phone app?
  3. Did you update the watch firmware? If so what version does it show?
  4. When you say the “tracker”, do you mean Versa, Versa lite, or Versa 2?

Yes I have shut it down. Versa 2. I have a Samsung galaxy. Version of app
is 3.69(36955001)

Thanks.

Is the watch tracking everything and just not syncing it to the app, or is the watch not consistently tracking?

Consider the following which someone else posted and it worked for them. Versa 2 back up after resetting

  • Unpair your Versa 2 from your phone's Bluetooth.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off the Bluetooth.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth.
  • Set up your Versa 2 again.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Versa 2.

It's tracking and syncing my steps and the fitness stuff just not the heart
rate and sleep.

Roger dodger. I assume you do not see a continuously flashing green light on the watch back. The only things it likely will be is the watch “heart rate” setting is turned off or the sensor(s) is(are) wonky.

If it was me I would try the steps in my last response. Then if it doesn’t work as a worst case delete the watch from the app, delete the phone app, reboot the phone, do a factory reset (which is a last ditch effort), reload the phone app,  re-pair it, and hope for the best. Note there is a chance it will be totally hosed after these steps, which is why I say they are a last ditch effort. I’ve done it many times on various Fitbit devices, but some say it totally bricks their watch.

I do actually see a flashing green light. I did the steps provided and the
pulse is back but still did not record sleep.

So the heart rate is back? If so I suggest giving it a night or two and seeing if sleep tracking comes back.

Recorded one night but then back to not recording sleep but heart rate is
there more then it's not.

Definitely a poser. Have you checked the web dashboard on the Fitbit website to see if the data is there? I’ve seen a few things that get uploaded to the website, but neither the app nor watch showed the data consistently.

Beyond that the only things I can come up with left are:

  • Clean back of watch to make sure sensors are not impaired
  • Make sure the watch does not sit over dark tattoos (this has affected me as I have some dark ink where I normally where a watch)
  • Make sure watch is snug, but not too tight, about 1 finger width above wrist bone
  • Make sure both the watch and app are running the latest version - watch is 72.1.23 and app is 3.69 (for IOS, not sure about Android)
  • Try allowing the watch to completely drain the battery, then recharge to 100% (a complete guess, but it has solved some strange problems in the past)

Wish I had a simple answer, but this is a strange one. Good luck!

Still not working correctly. Some days I get heart rate.  I get maybe one night a week sleeps recorded. I've deleted app. Reinstalled it.  Removed the fit bit.  I've tried everything.  Very frustrating

I have reported this issue twice to support.    First "tech" had no idea what he was talking about.    Second tried, but nothing has changed.    I just ordered a different brand.   Fitbit has gone down hill since Google bought it.   Customer service is nonexistent.    I hope fitbit finds the answer to this issue soon and I will return the new one

Sad.  Been a fitbit customer for quite a few years.  My husband and children too. Might just give it up
