Versa 2 pace tracking during exercise wildly inaccurate

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

For several months now my Versa 2 has not displayed my pacing accurately. I've gone round with support at a few companies and no resolution. Tracking on my phone is perfect (and matches in Strava and Google Fit).

The data either does grossly inflated mileage (ex: 7 miles on a 5 mile run), out grossly undermeasured (ex: 3 miles on a 5 mile run).

It's basically useless as this is the reason I purchased the watch. It used to work great, and I'm hoping there is a fix you can assist with.

For reference, I have the Versa 2, with the latest update installed. I have it synced with my Pixel 3a (and I've spoken to Google multiple times to validate the gps data is logging properly). I typically use Strava (synced) but have unsynced it to isolate the problem as the FitBit.

Thanks in advance for your help.

@Jwidget Welcome to the Community. Sorry for the delayed reply.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with your watch. I appreciate that you've reached out to other companies regarding GPS prior to posting.

All devices with GPS sensors require a direct path to GPS satellites to calculate location. A weak GPS signal might affect the accuracy of your route and other activity data. Your device uses your step count to calculate distance until it finds a signal, so the total distance calculated for a workout may be slightly less accurate when GPS isn't available for the entire time.

I would like you to double check that your Versa 2 is always connected to your phone and showing GPS signal, if it is loosing the signal, please try the tips mentioned in this article: How do I use GPS on my Fitbit device?

I'll be around if you have any additional questions.

Sorry, this is slightly off topic, but how do the notifications work? Messages, apps, etc. I have a pixel 3a and want the versa 2 but it's not listed as compatible

It has connectivity to my the whole time, and I have GPS connectivity for the duration of my run.

I have confirmed my phone's is tracking distance accurately tracking location by tracking runs with Google Fit and Strava.

I previously had Strava connected to my FitBit, however it was corrupting the data so I have unsynced so I have an (unideal) mechanism to track distance during my run since my FitBit data is so off.

I have this same problem, and it is so frustrating. My FitBit is accurate maybe 20% of the time. It is usually tracking my pace way too fast. It can't have anything to do with the GPS. Why do my friend's that I run with not have issues with their Apple Watches or Garmins on the exact same runs? When I run with friends at 11:00/min pace, my FitBit will show somewhere in the 7:50/min range. It's insane. If GPS is the issue, then FitBit needs to update.

@Anaaaa It's nice to see you on the Community. Thanks for the details mentioned. In order to receive notifications, you will need to have a compatible device, rest assure that Fitbit is always testing new devices and adding them to the list. On my versa 2, the distance and time appear to be accurate, but, I am pretty sure my average walking pace is not 28'52".
