Since 1st update, display issues and the charge doesn't last as long. For that reason I've put off doing the current update because I don't want to risk more features being affected on my versa 2 fitbit.

Hi thee, @DKSMITH. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the inconvenience with your Versa 2. I understand where your concern is coming from.
Regarding the battery life, as you may know, it should last up to 6 days. However, as with other electronic devices, the battery will depend on the features and how often they're used, such as the GPS, Spotify app or the Always-On display. While this doesn't mean that you shouldn't use them, please take into consideration the conditions that impact your watch's battery.
That being said, I'd recommend to change the clock face (changing the clock face will also help with the screen issue) to one designed by Fitbit and please confirm if you've followed the tips and recommendations to maximize your watch's battery life described here. You can also check What are some tips for charging my Fitbit device?
As for the firmware update, I suggest you to update your Fitbit device to the most recent firmware version as running old version may lead to inconveniences in the future. If you're having issues while updating your Versa 2, see Why can't update my Fitbit device?
Hope that helps.
