Versa 2 screen staying on when I don't want it to

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've had my Versa 2 for about a week, and I have it set to turn the screen on from motion and to stay off during sleeping hours. Everything had been going smoothly. Suddenly, last night I noticed it was on in the middle of the night, and when I tried to turn it off with the button it popped right back on again. Then the battery died. I charged it, and then this morning I started to notice that it was on all the time even when I wasn't moving my wrist. I changed the setting to turn on only by the button, but any time there was a notification the screen came back on and stayed on, and then the battery died.

Can anybody help me resolve this? I don't want to have to send it back and go back to my Alta HR.

2 possibilities:

You have selected an 'always-on' clock face.

You have turned on "always-on display" in Quick Settings.

Quick settings

Adjust notification and display settings. Swipe down from the top of the screen, and tap the quick settings icon

.

Do Not Disturb

When you turn on the do not disturb setting:
  • Notifications, goal celebrations, and reminders to move don't cause the watch to vibrate or the screen to turn on.
  • You see a do not disturb icon

at the top of the screen when you swipe down to see your notifications.
You can't turn on do not disturb and sleep mode at the same time.
Sleep Mode

When you turn on the sleep mode setting:
  • Notifications don't cause the watch to vibrate or the screen to turn on.
  • The screen's brightness is set to dim.
  • The always-on display clock face is turned off (on watches that support it).
  • Turning your wrist won't cause the watch's screen to turn on.
  • You see a sleep mode icon

at the top of the screen when you swipe down to see your notifications.
To schedule sleep mode to automatically turn on during certain hours, open the Settings app

and tap Sleep Mode > Schedule. Sleep mode automatically turns off at the time you schedule, even if you manually turned it on.

You can't turn on do not disturb and sleep mode at the same time.
Screen Wake

  • When you set Screen Wake to Auto (Motion), the screen turns on each time you turn your wrist.
  • When you set Screen Wake Manual (Button), press the button to turn on the screen.
You can't set Screen Wake to Auto (Motion) if you turn on always-on display or sleep mode.
Brightness

Adjust the screen brightness.
Always-On Display

(Versa 2 only)
Keep the screen on, even when you’re not interacting with the watch. For more information, see How do I see the time on my Fitbit device?

Note that turning on this feature impacts your watch's battery. When always-on display is turned on, Versa 2 has a battery life of up to 3 days.
Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

The thing is, I didn't turn on always on when I was having this problem, and I checked in both places multiple times. What I'm trying right now is that I went and turned on always on, but I set it to be off from 12:00am to 11:59pm. I have to turn the screen on with the button, but I'm okay with that. We'll see if the screen stays off or if it takes over again.

Thank you for your response.
