Hi there, @CliffordHare. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the issue with your Versa 2.

If the tips and recommendations provided by @NellyG don't work and your Versa 2 does not vibrate when you try performing the restart, I'd suggest trying the below steps:

  • Clean the charging contacts on the back of your device and the pins on your charging cable using the instructions in How do I clean my Fitbit device?
  • If the error "insufficient power source" appears on your device's screen, remove other devices plugged in to your power source, or plug your device in to another source.
  • Try a different USB port or a UL-certified wall charger.
  • Check the alignment and try reconnecting your device to the charging cable. For more information, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  • Restart your Fitbit once again. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?

If the above steps don't work, I'd suggest performing a restart by following the steps below (please remove your Versa 2 from your phone's Bluetooth before performing this step):

  1. Hold the back button for about 8 seconds.
  2. When the Fitbit logo disappears:
    1. Release the button briefly (for less than 2 seconds).
    2. Hold the button again until you feel a second, longer vibration, which indicates you initiated the factory reset.

You can follow the steps to set up the device after that: How do I set up my Fitbit device?

Take into consideration that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account and your applications, alarms, etc.

Your post was moved to the Other Versa Smartwatches board for organization purposes.

Hope that helps.

Hi @CliffordHare Try restarting it a few times and also change the  clockface in the app. If neither of those help then it sounds like it is sadly dying .

My Versa 2 also has the dreaded green screen. This is my second Versa 2, the first one had a defective battery and died under warranty after a few months. Had to pay (slightly reduced price) for a replacement. This second Versa 2 is about 2 years old, warranty was for 1 year. I have tried the recommended tips for restarting, factory reset, changing the clock face, etc. Nothing shows on the screen except the brightly lit green/blue square, no text or numbers. This bright square kills the battery quickly. Steps and heart rate, sleep, etc are still being recorded, so are visible in the phone app. But I can't use the watch to tell time, so it is now a flashlight that records data. Very disappointed in FitBit, have been a customer for years. I contacted customer service. They will send me an envelope so I can return the device for recycling, and have offered a 35% discount on a new watch. The cheapest option would cost $100 US plus shipping, and since I'm in Canada you can add that 35% back on due to the difference in the dollars. Hello, Apple...

Thanks for that.

I returned the Fitbit to (is it ) Amazon. They accepted it was faulty and send me a relacement. Mine was about 18 months old, but we had documentation stating there was a 2 year guarantee, possible as an incentive to buy at the time.

Still, things, with no moving parts and that have not been mis-used should last more than 24 months.
