Versa 2 showing heart rate when I am not wearing it

My Fitbit Versa 2 shows a heart rate on the screen even when i am not wearing it. It goes away for sometime after i restart the device, but freezes on a value after sometime of wearing it. The heart rate is then frozen to that value even while i'm resting or exercising.
