Versa 2 showing the message "Data not cleared, sync & try again" - won't factory reset

Hi,

I have a Versa 2 (one button) which I stopped using for a while (about 6 months) as wasn't really doing any exercise. It was working perfectly well before, but since I tried reusing it, I noticed that the data wasn't synching with my phone.

I tried everything that I could find online (mostly on this forum): unpaired the device from my phone (can't get it to reconnect now), deleted the device from my app, deleted then reinstalled the app, then finally did a factory reset of the device - however, as soon as the device restarted, the screen now reads "Data not cleared, synch and try again" with the red X.

What's weird is that my phone (Google Pixel 4a) somehow detects the device and prompts me to configure it again, but once it tries to connect to it via the Fitbit app, it doesn't work. And if I try to simply connect it via my bluetooth, again, it doesn't work.

I also tried performing a hard factory reset (since my screen is blocked on the red X), so I hold 8 seconds, then release for less than 2 seconds, and repress the back button, but I never get to the "long vibration". After a while, the Fitbit logo appears, then disappears again, then reappears, then disappears again (because I keep holding the back button, waiting for the promised long vibration...)...

I am now VERY frustrated with it. Please help solve this asappppp. Thanks a lot for any help in advance!!

Hello @Lducduc

Gosh I admire all the troubleshooting tips you tried on your own! I dug around and found this great article that might resolve this issue here: https://www.myhealthyapple.com/how-to-fix-a-fitbit-that-shows-a-red-x-with-message-data-not-cleared/

I would personally try every step in the article even if you tried it before. Can’t hurt. I also found this: https://thegeekysquad.blogspot.com/2020/12/fitbit-versa-2-data-not-cleared-sync.html

😃I really hope this provides you with the answer you seek. Please let me know
