I have had my versa 2 for 18 months now and been great but a few weeks ago the heart rate tracker stopped recording.
Any ideas why this is and how it can be fixed??

Switch the Heart Rate settings from On to Off and manually sync your watch. To switch the heart rate settings on your watch, from the main screen of your watch, swipe left until you see "Settings", and next swipe up until you see "Heart Rate" and switch it to Off. Once it's done, manually sync your Versa 2.

Will

This didn’t work for me the first two times I did it. But I read in another thread to clean the back with rubbing alcohol then do the turn off and sync/turn on and sync and now it is recording my heart rate. Yay!

I have the same problem and none of the suggestions worked. Mine quite working after an update 10 days before the warranty expired. I waited for another update expecting the issue to resolve which never happened. Now that warranty is expired they will offer you 35% discount on a new watch. I for one will no longer be supporting a company that seems to be manufacturing devices only to make them dysfunctional around the expiration of warranty.

Yes, Sadly my fix was only temporary. And I am back to no readings again! I will be finding a new watch company too once this one totally dies.

I think Fitbit did this intentionally, to push people to buy a new watch. Unethical business standards. (well they don't care, goog bought them)

Hi, these fixes didn’t work as at 31/03/2023. However, I did get my versa2 2021 HR to start working again by:
1 do a factory reset —> watch —> about —> factory reset.
2. Once working, Switch off all HR services, being; irregular heart rate function in app to off, watch settings HR to off, watch face settings (the elements you can choose to see or not) to deselect HR - so no HR on your display. Sync watch to app
3. press and hold left button on watch to restart or use about -> shut down on watch
4. sync watch again with app
5. To get HR back, On watch, settings. Select HR on. On watch display settings, set HR to selected.
should work now! My advice, don’t try to use irregular heart beat notifications!!! That seemed to be what caused it.
Sounds strange, but the hardware is the problem. From about a foot, on a floorboard or wood, drop the watch on to its side (not the button side) and it should help. It sounds weird but it works

Thanks. But it didn't work either. 😞

Yes mine ended up dropping out again. I’m sure it’s hardware.
so, I just bought a new versa2, gave my old one to my partner, did a factory reset, put it on his account and changed the watch band —— get this the heart rate now works!!! Been 24-hours now no drop outs. I can only think it’s the pins (hardware) in the watch band and or a new “empty” account??!

Your response was helpful but nothing worked, not even the trick of dropping. It happened right after all challenges went off so I am guessing nothing was due to hardware rather intentional.
I am tech savvy so I did check thoroughly app, watch settings and reset awful lot.
I won’t be buying Fitbit again though since they have taken challenges away anyway.

This does not fix the issue and I'm not sure how a non-solution is the best answer. This is a common problem for the versa 2 and I wish Fitbit would address the issue instead of assigning a software trick to get it to work in the short term. The tricks did not work, the versa 2 is now pointless as it does not track heart rate or sleep. It is now an expensive pedometer, aka waste of money. Is there an actual solution or should we chalk it up to another bad Fitbit product and I should upgrade by leaving Fitbit products altogether?
