Versa 2 stopped tracking sleep score

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

5 days ago, my Versa 2 stopped tracking sleep score, REM/Deep/Light sleep.  Now it is only tracking sleep patterns and no sleep score.  I have uninstalled the app, I have charged the device...  It also seems to have stopped tracking the resting heart rate, although right this second, the bpm is showing up for today... but yesterday, it showed up at bedtime, but does not show up now.

Thanks

Soda

@Soda42girl, welcome to our Fitbit Community! I'm happy to assist you with your Fitbit Versa 2 since it stopped tracking your sleep score. By the way, thank you for troubleshooting this issue before contacting our forums.

Please restart your Versa as described in this help article. This will refresh your watch internally. After this, make sure of the following details:

  • Your device is positioned correctly on your wrist:
  • Tighten the band so that it doesn’t slip on your wrist. For more information, see How do I track my heart rate with my Fitbit device?
  • Heart-rate tracking may not work with certain accessory bands, especially if they’re loose fitting. For best results, use the wristband that came with your device.

In the meantime, check out this help article, which explains how sleep score is calculated and tracked.

Keep me posted on the outcome.

I followed your directions and restarted my versa2, but no joy. No heart rate is showing on the device or in the dashboard .  Looks like heart rate has not been registering at all, nor sleep score since 8 Nov.

@Soda42girl, I'm sorry for the late response. However, I appreciate the time spent trying the recommended troubleshooting steps.

Since the issue persists,I'd like you to try one more workaround that has been helpful for this type of issues. Please try a factory reset. To do so on your device, open the Settings app > About > Factory Reset or Clear User Data. Sync your watch before this in order to avoid losing current data.

Finally, set up your Versa 2 from scratch and see if it tracks your sleep and heart rate properly.

Let me know how it goes.

Do not, and I repeat, DO NOT try to do a factory reset during a horrendous rain storm which causes power and wifi to go down about every 2-5 minutes for over the course of 2 hours!  Not if you want to retain sanity!  Eventually, I got the reset done and heart rate is finally showing up on the Versa 2 again.  We'll see tomorrow if the sleep score comes back!  Wish me luck!!

More problems.  Versa2 looked like it was connected yesterday, but could not synch today.  Thought that maybe yesterday's power ins and outs might have caused my synching problems, so thought I'd redo the factory reset and reinstall  now that the storms are over.  It took forever to get the reinstall done.  It kept finding the device but it did not want to connect.  After if finally got reset and reinstalled... now the device seems to keep getting lost.  When I tried to add a new app or change the clock face it keeps telling me that the device is not found.

Did you ever get this resolved? I’m having the same problem but this has been the least of my problems with the versa and versa 2, so I have just now looked into it. It started happening around the same time that yours did. I think there was an update to my phone around that time, so I juts assumes that Fitbit would fix it.

Yes I had to restart my Versa2 about 10 times and restart the app

I have the same problem. I am also having issues with it the Fitbit tracking my path that I walk. My husband has the Fitbit Charge 3, and his Fitbit does more stuff than mine at this point. On top of that, I have a premium subscription, and he does not. I do not know what happened, but the Versa was keeping my sleeping score without me having to click a button, and when they did whatever update it was, that is now gone. It is useless now. I have a watch that keeps track of my heart rate. I have apps on my phone that can do all of the things that my Versa can do and then some without the aggravation of wearing a Fitbit.  I understand with COVID that they may not have been able to do much about the issues. I just hope that they fix these issues soon.

Sorry for your troubles. I had to restart mine about 10-12 times and remove
and re add the app and it’s been fine ever since. Try that.

I am having the same problem. It tracks sleep score somedays, and somedays not. Nothing has changed in my usage of Fitbit. It is always on my wrist. It is always properly charged. I synch it. I power down and restart. To no avail.

Update to earlier post. I have gotten my sleep score to start working again. I have done this by restarting my versa 2 4-5 times and manually syncing after every restart. I have found my sleep score will work but the problem is, that the fix isn’t permanent and I will have to do this process over again. At this point, it’s not worth it to me, but I wanted to pass along what has worked for me. Good luck. Seems we all need it with the versa 2.

Thank you for posting. I had such good luck with my Fitbit Charge 2. With the Versa 2 there is no connection between the sleep I actually have and the sleep score. I also find the step score and distance can be off. I had a choice between the Apple Watch and the Versa. I think I made the wrong choice:(

Yeah I have had this Fitbit for about a year and it has never properly tracked my sleep score. If I’m lucky I’ll get one night a week. It also has never shown text notifications, even though I’ve tried all the stuff in the troubleshooting articles. I have an iPhone and I heard they work better with androids...I’m definitely frustrated. I gave up on using all the features and at this point I mainly just use this thing to tell the time.

I am sorry to hear that. My Versa just continued to cause problems - even uneven when tracking runs and walks - so I returned it and bought an Apple Watch. It took some getting used to, but if you already have an iPhone you might like it.

A lot of these issues on versa2 are not resolved.

i am currently having a battle with versa2 on oxidation data.  it logs sleep okay but no detail on the variations of breath which is important to me.  it just stopped tracking 3-4 days ago.  i have tried all the solutions that have been suggested.

heres an idea.....versa2 seemingly decides not to pair with my android phone.  does this inconsistently.  perhaps the time being unconnected takes its toll on the data.........imho sys mgr 35 years

My versa 2 has not recorded sleep scores for the last week. Tells me it cannot get a consistent hr while I sleep....I know that is bull**ahem** the hr monitor is reading at all times. They respond with something dumb like are you wearing it properly? Yes I have not changed the way I have worn it for the last year you are wasting both are times when you respond with something dumb. I have restarted the watch and have also done a factory reset and still no sleep scores. I do not know what else to do so I am going to call later

Mine just started doing this a week ago as well and I've tried all the advice.  I've had it over a year and have not had this problem. I noticed several people say they've had to restart it about 10 times,  I've probably done it 5 or 6 times.  May try to do it 5 or 6 more times and synch each time.  Maybe it will work then.

Is anyone getting any responses or real help from Fitbit?  Being someone around technology (a lot), this is a problem with their hardware / software and doing workarounds is sorry way to resolve the issue.  Clearly this is consistently happening and even when work around resolves, it is temporary.   I would be interested in if folks are getting refunds / exchanging for different models, or just settling that they a product that doesn't do what it commits to do.

My sleep score stopped working properly 5 days ago on my Versa Lite, I thought it was a low battery. It has been wonky of late. I reset it 3x so far to no avail. I am due for a new watch and thinking of switching to another company!

I am having the same issue. My Fitbit last recorded my sleep score and notified me to move last Saturday. It has not worked since. I have restarted it every day and did a hard reset tonight. It is always charged and on my wrist. I was not sure if there was an update, but nothing has worked. Has anyone been able to get it to work?
