I went in the sea the other day and forgot o take the watch off, after 5 minutes I took a look and it was dead. I went out of the sea and put it in the sun hoping it might dry out, it has now had 3 days in a bag of rice but still dead. I thought this was supposed to be water proof and even has a Swim Activity setting.

Hello there, @Airseir. Thanks for stopping by in the Fitbit Community Forums and trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Versa 2 before reaching out.
If your watch got wet, it’s important to take it off and dry it well before putting it back on. If your watch has come into contact with any liquid other than fresh water, you should clean it with fresh water and a soap-free cleanser (like Cetaphil) and dry it with a lint free-cloth. Be sure you've followed our Wear and Care instructions to keep your device clean.
Water resistance may diminish over time and can be negatively impacted by any of the following:

This is the first time I have worn it in water, I always take it off to wash or shower. To the best of my knowledge it has never been dropped. I have to say that I am very disappointed, especially when it has the swim Activity setting. I have just reviewed the wear and care and it certainly does not mention anything specific about water immersion other than cleaning products, sunscreen and insect repellents, which have neve come in contact with it.

I am having the same issue. Min got wet during a water balloon fight and now it won’t turn on. It just keeps flashing the Fitbit logo but never turns on. I thought it would withstand splashes or brief submerging in water, it’s disappointing
