Versa 2 stopped working after getting wet

My versa 2 is supposedly water proof, and I’ve swam with it in the past. I had it in the pool recently and it hasn’t turned on since. I thought I needed to charge it and left it on the charger for a day, but just checked and now it’s overheated and smells burnt and feels hot. Does that mean it’s fried and unsalvageable?

Hi @Megdupe  according to page 66 of the Versa 2 user manual, it is water resistant, not water proof. click to see manual. Most people have found by putting the Fitbit into dry rice for about 48 hours before charging it has good results. Since you charged it with a damp battery and for such a long time, it probably did fry the battery.

Hi there, @Megdupe. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the issue with your Versa 2. I understand where your concern is coming from.

As @Odyssey13 has mentioned, please note Versa 2 is water-ressistant to 50 meters. However, water resistance may diminish over time and can be negatively impacted by any of the following:

  • Dropping the device.
  • Exposing the device to soaps, shampoos, conditioners, perfume, insect repellent, lotions, or sunscreen.
  • Exposing the device to high-velocity water (for example, during water sports).

If your watch got wet, it’s important to take it off and dry it well before putting it back on. If your watch has come into contact with any liquid other than fresh water, you should clean it with fresh water and a soap-free cleanser (like Cetaphil) and dry it with a lint free-cloth. Be sure to follow our Wear and Care instructions to keep your device clean.

Nevertheless,
I've seen you contacted our Support Team after posting here and they've already assisted you. If you still need help or have any questions/concerns regarding the outcome of your case, please feel free to contact our team back for further assistance.
