Why is it a water proof watch if you go swimming and stops working. Now is not covered under warranty?

I'm not sure how this helps the issue I'm having because the watch is a fitbit versa 3. I am being told my watch is not under warranty but it's water damage to a water prof watch. I was offered 35% discount but the only way I can replace my watch is to buy a new version because mine isn't available. Starting cost at $299 + tax and shipping.

That's unacceptable. How long did it take for customer service to resolve your case? I contacted them about my versa 3 failing after swimming over a week ago and I haven't even been offered any kind of fix for my situation.
