Versa 2 stopped working after swimming

Hello,

I've had my fitbit versa 2 sinds 2019. Had no problems with it. Yesterday went swimming with it (have done that multiple times before), after i was done had trouble turning the swimming workout of. After that the fitbit kept restarting itself and kept vibrating for a while. The clock ect. would appear the first 30 minutes of rebooting. But after that is kept rebooting and just showed the fitbit logo.

Tried hard rebooting it without succes, the watch doensn't vibrate when trying to start again. After an hour or so it said the batterij was alsmost empty. Even do I recharged it earlier in de day and was fully charged then. Now it won't recharge again of turn on again. Even after some thime on the charging cable.

I now see some condensation on the sensor in the inside. So i think the inside of the fitbit got wet? The are now breaks of crack on the exterior of glass. It now in a bowl of rice to hopefully get the inside dry.

Anyone had any other idea of what I can do?

Hello @Tamaradb
Placing your Versa 2 in a bowl of dry rice is an excellent idea. Try to keep it that way for a day or two. If after a dry rice bath doesn’t work you can always contact Fitbit Customer Service but since it’s well past your warranty date I’m not sure what other steps they can offer you. You can contact them here: https://myhelp.fitbit.com/s/support?language=en_US
I truly hope the rice dries it out. I’m sorry this happened to you.

Hi there, @Tamaradb. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Versa 2 before reaching out. I understand where your concern is coming from. @SunsetRunner Thanks for your help!

If your watch got wet, it’s important to take it off and dry it well before putting it back on. If your watch has come into contact with any liquid other than fresh water, you should clean it with fresh water and a soap-free cleanser (like Cetaphil) and dry it with a lint free-cloth. Be sure to follow our Wear and Care instructions to keep your device clean.

Water resistance may diminish over time and can be negatively impacted by any of the following:

  • Dropping the device.
  • Exposing the device to soaps, shampoos, conditioners, perfume, insect repellent, lotions, or sunscreen.
  • Exposing the device to high-velocity water (for example, during water sports).

If your watch is still not responding after taking the above into consideration, the best way to get help for this problem is to chat with us online or give us a call. Click here to get connected.

Hope that helps.

Hi Tamara,

The same thing happened to my Fitbit and I was given the discount code too but aren’t you worried the same thing happens again if you get a new versa?

In my opinion as it’s clearly a fault with the device, Fitbit should offer a repair or replacement regardless of age of the device.

I would disagree that it’s the fault of the Fitbit Versa 2 in all cases @bex285  I’ve had my Versa 2 since September 2019 and have had zero issues except a one time syncing issue quite some time ago. But, I totally understand your concerns about worrying it will happen again. I suppose anything is possible.
