Hi there, @SunsetRunner. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the issue with your Versa 2. I understand where your worry is coming from.

As @Guy_ has mentioned, please note the message "Data not cleared, Sync & Try again" usually appears when you performed a factory reset without first unpairing your watch from your phone's Bluetooth settings.

With that being said, please confirm if you've followed the steps below to solve this issue:

  • Unpair your Fitbit device from your phone's Bluetooth.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off the Bluetooth.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth.
  • Set up the Fitbit device to your Fitbit account.
  • If there is no connection, restart the Fitbit device.

If you continue having issues to pair the Fitbit device, see Why can't I set up my Fitbit device?

If the above doesn't work, please stay tuned to your inbox. Someone from our Support Team will reach out to you shortly.

Hi @SunsetRunner - if you factory reset the watch it will need to be setup again.

In the Fitbit App did you click on profile photo and "+ Set up a Device" and replace?

@SunsetRunner Hi. When you factory reset the Versa 2, it stays in a state to set it up again. You can't even turn it off. Might want to add it to an account just to get past the set up screen and be able to shut it off? It's already reset, so that won't hurt anything. You can always just remove it from the account again.

Thank you for your help. It worked. My watch is now updating.
After it is finished... I can remove it from my account?

I want to give this watch to my sister, since I have bought a new watch.

----------

You're right! I couldn't turn my watch off 🙄

---------

I didn't get a comment. My watch was still running, running, running....
Now the problem seems to be fixed

@SunsetRunner You're very welcome! I'm glad to hear the issue is solved now.

Regarding your inquiry, yes. You can remove it from your account once the update is finished. For more information, see How do I erase my Fitbit device?
