Versa 2 stopped working out of the nowhere

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Fitbit was fine this am, battery at medium level, 47% according to my phone. It just died after lunch. Tried charging it, removed the app, removed the Fitbit turned Bluetooth on and off, and nothing. It’s just dead. Feeling helpless to say the least! Any help would be appreciated it! Seems like I’m not the only one reading some of these comments here. 😢

Hi there, @LAAD123. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Versa 2 before reaching out. We‘re taking your comments and sentiments in regards to our products into consideration.

If you haven't done so yet, I'd recommend restarting your Versa 2. For instructions, click here.

If the restart doesn't work and your watch doesn't vibrate whatsoever, please see Why isn't my Fitbit device's battery charging?

Hope that helps.

My Versa 2 charged 100%. Got it synced, it was displaying the wrong time. Did a restart, now it is displaying a message about data not cleared. Tried to sync and it won’t do anything.

Hi there, @RSpeagle. Welcome on board.

Please note the message "Data not cleared, Sync & Try again" usually appears when you performed a factory reset without first unpairing your watch from your phone's Bluetooth settings.

With that being said, please confirm if you've followed the steps below to solve this issue:

  • Unpair your Versa 2 from your phone's Bluetooth.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off the Bluetooth.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth.
  • Set up your Versa 2 again.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Versa 2.

If you can't get started with your Versa 2, usually a missing requirement is the cause. Carefully review the requirements provided in the help article Why can't I set up my Fitbit device?

As for the wrong time, keep in mind that your Versa 2 may show an incorrect time if it hasn't synced or it has been unpaired from your Fitbit account. Your Fitbit grabs the time of the device you're syncing with. If you're having syncing difficulties, please see Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

Hope that helps.

This happened to me too, and I'm at a loss to what to do with it. Can it be fixed, does it need a new battery? To be honest I'm not sure I want to spend all that money again for something the breaks so quickly 🤷🏼‍:female_sign:

Remove your Device from the app then set it up like when you first got it. It worked for me.

I contacted Fitbit and there is nothing they will do. Oh wait they offered me 35% off a new one!  This was my 6th Fitbit, I’m done. My husbands Apple Watch has out lived many of my Fitbits! Why would I invest in another one for it to potentially die again?  I just spent $50 on a new band less than two months ago. Sad cause I was a huge addicted fitbit fan! Sorry but no thank you!

Wish that was even an option. But when there is zero power to it you can’t do anything! It won’t reboot, nothing! Completely dead. Sucks!

Mine is doing the same thing for the 2nd time in 3 months after receiving a warranty replacement. Fitbit forced a firmware-killing update, probably hoping we’re all dumb enough to upgrade our trackers for Christmas. I’ll be switching to an Apple Watch!

Both mine and my partners did the same thing, we both have versa 2’s we tried doing all the reset options to no avail, it also couldn’t be a coincidence that both separate chargers died at the same time either.

Hearing all these posts where Fitbit’s have died tells me this isn’t a coincidence at all! This isn’t a one off situation! I have already switched to an Apple Watch, I won’t invest anymore into a company who doesn’t stand behind their product. I just replaced a strap less than 2 months ago and that’s $50 out of my pocket wasted as well ,  Offering me 35% off a new watch isn’t good customer service! Sad to go but what other choice do I have.

I got on with chat and I had to remove the device and start back over like it was new. Problem solved

My Versa 2 arbitrarily stopped working this morning.  It’s had brain farts a few times this year where I’d see nothing onscreen, but it always came back on a couple hours later like nothing happened. Today, it had like a BSOD (actually a periodic flashing FB logo) for about 12 hours.  I tried holding the Back button about 8 times throughout the day per the manual and other blogs to no avail.  Then, a few minutes ago I signed into the actual website here (the app did nothing for me), and out of the blue my watch came back on. BTW, it was 100% charged this morning. In the meantime, I charged up my old Garmin watch (about 5 years old) and she powered up like a charm.

Update: watch not working again 40 minutes later. Same periodically flashing logo.  Help!!!!

This happened to me too. It was at 79% this morning, and suddenly the screen just went black and can’t charge or do anything. It’s just dead.  Nothing I do works.  Has anyone had luck returning theirs? Or getting a replacement? This is less than 2 years old!  This is my 3rd Fitbit, each a different model but none of them has made it to the 2 year mark!!

This is my issue too!  It’s just totally dead and was charged this morning!

Hi, I got in contact with Fitbit and have sent mine back for them to check
and issue a replacement. Mines was just under 2 years old too. Hopefully
they send me a replacement and it works OK. I'll update later.

Hi all, got in contact with Fitbit, explained my issues and sent video evidence of the issue at hand. They’ve helped me out as I’m still under warranty. It does pay to add that extra year buyers protection. Thanks Fitbit.

Your story sounds exactly like mine. Sadly a dead Fitbit that doesn’t charge back up is exactly that, dead. I made the move to apple sadly. Done buying a new watch every other year. Good luck!!

I’d love to know what they do! I wasn’t even offered that option and mine was under two years old! Did you have to pay to ship it or did they?

Same happened to me, watch working fine then the battery went flat. Recharged, the battery lasted less than 2 hours. Tried all the recommended fixes, nothing worked. The last time on charge it got really hot & now it won’t turn on at all. This is the second Versa, the first one died the sam death after 2,5 years, Fitbit replaced the old one with this this one which only lasted 14 months. Needless to say I have now ordered an Apple Watch.

How does the battery in my phone have anything to do with my Fitbit? My phone is running perfectly and my Fitbit is completely dead. It won’t even charge.

Sorry to hear. I have switched to an Apple Watch, getting used to it but I will say I do miss my Fitbit as I was so used to it but tired of replacing it. Good luck!

How does this help? My phone runs perfectly fine  and my Fitbit won’t even charge. Like nothing! Completely dead. Not sure how that can help?
