Versa 2 stuck on message "Data not cleared, Sync & Tried again"

Hello! Can someone help me with this problem of mine? I accidentally unpaired my “locked versa 2” with my phone. I’ve tried to pair it again but I cannot since my watch is locked. I’ve seen a suggestion that try to factory reset it so I did. I factory reset but it says here that “Data not cleared. Sync & try again”. What will I do next?? Need badly help since this is a gift from someone and I don’t want to lose this. 😭

Hi there, @anonymous.1506. Thanks for stopping by in the Fitbit Community Forums. It's sad to hear that your Versa 2 is still not syncing nor pairing despite all the steps you've tried so far. I understand how you must be feeling as your Versa 2 has been gifted by someone you care about, I'll do my best to help you with this. 

Please note the message "Data not cleared, Sync & Tried again" usually appears when you perform a factory reset without first unpairing your watch from your phone's Bluetooth settings.

With that being said, I'd recommend trying the steps below in the order listed:

  • Unpair your Versa 2 from your phone's Bluetooth.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off the Bluetooth.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth.
  • Set up your Versa 2 again.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Versa 2.


If you can't get started with your Versa 2, usually a missing requirement is the cause. Carefully review the requirements provided in the help article Why can't I set up my Fitbit device?
