Hello there, @CarrieMcGil. Thanks for stopping by in the Fitbit Community Forums. I'm sorry to hear that your Versa 2 is stuck on that message after charging it. I'll be glad to help you with this!

Please note the message you're receiving usually appears when you performed a factory reset without first unpairing your watch from your phone's Bluetooth settings.

With that being said, I'd recommend trying the steps below in the order listed:

  • Unpair your Versa 2 from your phone's Bluetooth.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off the Bluetooth.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth.
  • Set up your Versa 2 again.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Versa 2.

If you can't get started with your Versa 2, usually a missing requirement is the cause. Carefully review the requirements provided in the help article Why can't I set up my Fitbit device?

Hope that helps.

I just did all the steps including recharging my device and I got under the list of Available Devises Versa 2. When I click on it to pair it I get a message Pairing rejected from Versa 2. What Should I do now.

@CarrieMcGil Thanks for getting back and the details provided in your last post.

As our last resort, I'd recommend performing a factory reset by following the steps below:

  1. Hold the back button for about 8 seconds.
  2. When the Fitbit logo disappears:
    1. Release the button briefly (for less than 2 seconds).
    2. Hold the button again until you feel a second, longer vibration, which indicates you initiated the factory reset.

Once the above has been done, please set up your Versa 2 by following these steps How do I set up my Fitbit device?

Take into consideration that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account and your applications, alarms, etc.

Hope that helps.

I tried to do Factory reset. The icon came on I released for about a second and pushed again. No vibration either time. The icon just kept coming on and going off. This kept happening. Now when I try turning it on I get the big red x with the circle and the message below it saying Data not cleared Synch and Try again.

Okay, it’s not just me then. I received a new Fitbit Versa 2 as a gift a week ago (to replace the one I had that unexpectedly died on me) and it has worked perfectly until now. This morning, it refused to sync. I have tried all of the troubleshooting steps and nothing works…now the device isn’t recognized at all.

I did everything in your emails and still can't get my fitbit to work.  I even took it to a repair shop and they repeated all the steps I did.  My Versa 2 is still not working.  My second Fitbit burnt my wrist badly.   Now I am trying again to get a fitbit to work properly.  I don't know what to do next.

I'm also having the same issue. I called support and their troubleshooting was the same as what I could find online. No luck. Was told the support would continue by email. So far all I've received is a discount code towards a new fitbit. I've been a fitbit user since the beginning but this is the second device that has had an unresolved issue.

I contacted Fitbit support and was instructed to do a factory reset. Now I’m having the same issue with it the screen only displaying the red X and ‘Data not cleared’. The support person was very kind but I am even more frustrated now. My watch is essentially bricked. Waiting for Fitbit to contact me for further support but I’m afraid I’ll just get the same offer as others have before.

I got no where with fitbit. I finally got mad and took the ap completely off my Samsung tablet. I for the fun of it installed in on my apple Ipad and for some reason it is working again. I don't know how long it will work and can no longer get my messages but at least my steps are counting again.
