Just bought Versa 2.  Will not synch to samsung 21. It use to until now.  There is no software update for the app.  Phone says "an app is needed to use this device" .  I have the app.  Ive uninstall and reinstalled the app 3 times.  Turned watch off and on several times as well. Tried doing set up new device.  But it just says it can't synch. Gone into setting on watch, bluetooth add device.  says theres no device to connect to. Watch is fully charged.

Hi there, @kybc. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Versa 2 before reaching out.

I agree with @Guy_, as per the message on the watch's screen, it seems that your Versa 2 is asking to be paired. With that said, I'd suggest following the steps below:

  • Check if by any chance your phone's Bluetooth shows the Versa 2 as a connected device. If so, please unpair/remove it.
  • Remove the Versa 2 from your Fitbit account and your phone's Bluetooth settings.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off the Bluetooth.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth.
  • Set up your Versa 2 again.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Versa 2.

If you can't get started with your Versa 2, usually a missing requirement is the cause. Carefully review the requirements provided in the help article Why can't I set up my Fitbit device?

If you continue having syncing difficulties after linking your Fitbit device, please see Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

Hope that helps.

Hi @kybc - it may be a faulty watch but first restart the phone, then in the Fitbit App, Click profile photo then "+ Set up a new Device".

The app takes care of pairing the watch, you can't do it manually in Bluetooth, but you can unpair if it is present before doing the above process.

I've very annoyed to say, this watch has gone in the draw. 3 months young and I spend more time fixing it than using it.  I can't start another question, can't contact fitbit. The battery needs charging every day. Read the forums repeatedly, there is NO button in the app to turn off all day syncing. This is NOT a even partially decent watch. Constantly having to uninstall app. Re sych. Wash rinse repeat. Can't even get a refund. Its a technical issue!!!! Watch is on and telling the time!!! Its BS

Hi. I have an old little inspire , and since the last Android update Sep 2022 , I got the same , an app is needed. I do believe from my point of view , it is an Anroid app or actually a few of them that are now m.i.a ,

From reading away many an hour , I got it down to the apps involving Bluetooth pairing and making "third party apps visible" to work with Samsung are not there anymore and then I noticed on my phone a handful of those android faces are either dimmed or show no new updates around them like they are being left out on purpose...

I have no idea how to get them " activated again" I even tried to install that version of android but no luck ( Android 11 and older was working fine)

I am going to follow the instructions you got step by step and hope for the best. 👍

Good luck to you. I hope the new tidbit that's going around about Samsung's future plans work out for us ...

Hi @Mo00-Legend  - as long as you have the Fitbit App installed on your phone don't uninstall it.

They recently changed the minimum Android OS requirements from Android 8 to 9 meaning that you can't reinstall it if you don't have Android 9 or later.

If you have it installed on the phone it should still work.

@Mo00-Legend  - thanks, the minimum Android version won't be of concern for you as you are using a much more recent Android version.

To check which, pull down the phone screen and click on the gear icon, scroll to the bottom and click About and look in software information.
